Anyone know why the bit where the Artizan Centre on the High Street used to be called 'The Vinnel?' Not sure of the spelling.

I shall be visiting the memorial on the way back from Lewis in September. I have served with many RM Commandos and never met better soldiers and friends. I look forward to paying my respects to their Army and RM comrades.

Anyone have any knowledge of 'the hatters close' on the High Street and 'the vinnel' (not sure of it's spelling), which is where the Artiizan Centre is now?

this is a fantastic video , not knowing that much about Bowling - I'd say the steam engine makes the video - hands down - a work of art.

Great wee film. The version of Loch Lomond at the beginning of this film made my hair on the back of my neck stand up!!!

I though the by pass opened in the early 70s and in the clip of the bellsmyre roundabout you can see the entrance to the bypass.

Do you have anymore info on this film.

I find these programmes so interesting now, both geographically and historically.
