I've only just found your videosand they're great! We met you about 7 years ago when you kindly showed us a lake around the back of a disused warehouse. We're back over at the beginning of June so hoping to see more birds in beautiful Portugal.

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell, hope that you're over it and on the mend. I've missed my regular dose of Cabranosa this past few weeks and haven't been there myself since October '21 but hoping to come again later this year. Brilliant what you're doing for your local 'patch' always a pleasure to watch.

Hi Carl, gald you're up and about again. Hope there'll be no long term effects. Thanks again for recording and sharing the action at your pond. The hoopoe is always a highlight for me. Sadly was not so lucky to spot them 3 weeks ago in the area. "Cool" idea with the improvised A/C.

Hi Carl, hope you're alright? Been wondering about your absence... Been to Sagres last week, did walk "the Hedge" but had the misfortune of the strong winds pretty much forcing all birds to suspend their activities. Saw my first 2 bee-eaters.😀 Was hoping to picture a few raptors but only had 3 sightings (always out of the car with no chance to stop😭). Was amazed of the amount of white storks all over southern Portugal and their "colonies" on the massive electricity pole structures.😲

I can only say I'm deeply envious. Great shots and good to hear your identification tips. I think "surl" is the correct pronunciation for cirl bunting. The RSPB has had a very successful project building up their numbers in South Devon. I've never seen one, nor serin, wryneck or ortolan. Many thanks for your work in making such an inviting oasis for all of the birds.

Congrats to VLOG No.300. Always nice to see the woodpecker doing his thing. Hope I'll be lucky enough to photograph a peregrine as well, will be in the area in a few weeks. :) But I'm curious: where are the frogs from and how do they survive if your pool is the only water source in the area? As annoyed as you are with their volume I don't assume you've introduced them.
@CarlChaitanya

The frogs appeared by themselves along with the salamanders and everything else in the pond. Nature has a way of surviving.

The woodpecker behaviour reminded me of when other birds spread their wings on the floor to get rid of parasites. They often twist their necks to the side as well. Definitely have never seen a woodpecker do it, though.

This kind of climat rain with intermittent sunshines is better for finding rarities like the brambling ,rain and wind force the migrants to stop and then they gather in diversity and number .

You got lucky with the birds again, a reward for all the hard work you put in. Well deserved. But please dial down the volume of the music if you are providing information at the same time. It was no longer possible to understand you when the Hoopoe arrived. Personally I think music is something for the B-roll or pics you've taken at the end but not the "live"-footage. But that's just my preference.
