What I would suggest is cooking a pork butt in it to start. A pit will get seasoned with animal fats not the smoke itself. Get you a fire going up to about 250 and not over 275. Slow cook a pork butt and your pit will be good to go. Cook the pork king and slow to an internal temperature of 203 and you will have a great first meal off the pit

Where do you get the buckets

I get mine from farmers. They are buckets that have either cow or horse lick blocks in. They are hard to come by unless you know somebody. Alot of people use them. Some nurserys get them and sell them for about 5 apiece. And if all else you can get something close at tractor supply but they aint cheap. I prefer getting them from cattle or horse people. Hope this helps

For the style of fishing I do I would get a decent med to med hvy surf rod. Penn usually has a combination rod and reel. At Walmart or academy. Spool it with 50 lb braid. I run sliding sinkers. Watch my video on it. Bait I would get you some frozen mullet and cut it in chunks. Usually three pieces per fish.
