Ma'am, yes, I did in many cases. I gave a cheque to my husband when I keep hearing my MIL saying her son gave a portion of money for my Mangalya chain. I gave back her only one chain which she gave me after marriage. I too was a lion in my office and people feared for my honesty, sincerity, courage, bold action taker, questioning authorities for any injustice, mismanagement... Though, at the beginning people couldn't take it and troubled me a lot. That, I withstood, faced boldly, later, justice started winning automatically. It's an heavenly experience... I am maintaining the same till the end... I feel proud of myself. I don't need to depend on somebody to appreciate me. Today's my life is the mirror of what I was. That's enough for me. Thank you Ma'am for me to go back and look at my way of life. But, I didn't studied in hi fi school. Still, I am so proud and blessed to have genius, God hearted teachers in the government schools I have studied. They taught me real life... I am so grateful to all my Gurus, lots may not be in this world. Of course, my parents played major role in our upbringing. My Mom lived only 9 years in my life, but, what she taught me become road map for me to live for 90 years. My Dad, so matured, inspiring soul taught we girls to boldly go out of house and learn lot for life.... Amazing parents. We are blessed to have a perfect wonderful parents as a gift to our life. I love you Mom and Dad...

I really liked the idea Kiran ji...wonderful and passionate. Also, any suggestion on what to do if schools access teachers on how many times the teacher has visited her children's homes....it'll not be another austerity and another drama from the parents end? If the teachers aren't passionate & motivated ?

This was the school i always wanted. My childhood was deprived of the education and system like this and i feel my whole childhood was wasted in going to shcool from morning till evening and coming back home with empty head. It is high time for schools to start these kind of education and system.

No doubt Mr. Gopalan initiates the panellists into the exploration of the topic of ‘tradition’ by effectively analysing its literal meaning as well as its various implications. Whenever we hear the very word ‘tradition’, the next word flashing in our minds is ‘following’. To my mind, one should distinguish between a ‘practice’ and a ‘tradition’. When we appreciate the rationale, reason or rationality behind a tradition, we USE that tradition rather than FOLLOW. On the other hand, when we conform to or abide by a practice without being aware of its rationale, we are actually following it mechanically like a typical traditionalist. Take for example, Hindus insisting on using the right hand for eating rather than the left, but if we keep in mind the fact that Indians or most Asians, for that matter, traditionally use left hand to wash after defecation, we appreciate the rationale behind the tradition of using the right hand for eating, and therefore would naturally teach a growing up LEFTY child to use the right hand for washing after defecation and to eat using the left hand. Look at all traditional attires in all cultures; they are invariably loose-fitting. But after machines began to be invented ushering in the Industrial Revolution, not even a diehard traditionalist would dare advise his or her child to go to the factory and operate a machine using the traditional loose-fitting dresses. Of course, it would be so naïve on my part to suggest that all traditions are explicable in simple terms using the language of the logic we are so accustomed to. We must be humble enough to remind ourselves that the entire amount of human knowledge is just the tip of the iceberg of the innumerable mysteries and forces governing the universe. Therefore, the crux of the matter is that we should not allow ourselves to be enslaved by a tradition. Instead, we should use a tradition in our living and learning bearing in mind its rationale.
