Wow! very impressive! But I have to say, the video resolution really does a disservice to your work. This really deserves a better quality video.

A very good buddy of mine bought me several pairs of Loakes most recently the plain toed shoe in black and burgundy the 771 model and I find these really comfortable to wear with all my dress pants and suits did walking a great deal in them found they did not hurt my feet for one moment. He also gave me a plain toed shoe with Dante soles by Crockett and Jones that are truly pleasant for a casual day. I honestly find English made shoes to be of the best quality ever and will have them for a long time

Beautiful shoes but I don't like any of the colours that they come in at the moment. They had them in brown waxy suede which looked awesome. If I could find a pair of those in size 10 I'd buy those for sure.

Hi Mike, ‘Cuir Gras’ oiled leather dressing is what I use in neutral colour, and it is also available in two shades of brown if required :-)

Loake 1880 use compressed cardboard heel stack Barker Bailey , pure leather heelstacks
@markfletcher49842 ай бұрын
I'm thinking you may have been mis-informed N91.........Some models made by Loake and Barker actually use 'Leather Board' in Heel Stacks and Mid-Soles. Leather Board, is made up from waste leather cuttings that are ground, and mixed with a resin, which is then rolled into sheets, and cut for mid-soles and heel stacks. You are correct though, that the Heel Stack on the Barker model Bailey, is cut from the same leather they use for leather soles. That said.....everything made to a specification for a price, there is a reasonable gap now between the Loake Chester, and the higher priced Barker Bailey. There is a £66 (rrp) difference between the Chester and the Bailey now. Considering the actual finish of the shoes is virtually same or very similar, the difference in justification of price has to be found somewhere, and that is usually in the materials, in quality of the Upper, Lining, Insole, Mid-soles and Heel Stacks.

@@markfletcher4984thanks ,appreciate your clarification. Actually, I was wondering what is the insole made of. Yes, there are tiers of quality (reflected on price) with Barkers, just as loake

I owned : Crockett jones 325 last, (cramped toes) trickers 4497s, 4444, (pinky toe problem) Allen Edmonds 65, 201 (pinky toe pressure) Alfred Sargent 87 and 89 (Ok fit) Loake Pennine (OK fit) In my case barkers 460 last is the best fit. No pinky toe pinching, no discomfort, but due to my narrow heel, only slight slip that is fixable with tounge pads Foot ref. Slightly low instep, medium to wide width foot, narrow heel, normal arch

Awesome video, really helpful when there is so little info for boots! . I was thinking of ordering the Kirkby, I'm a 11E North American size on brannock with a wider toe box and all they have are the NA 11's available. I'm just wondering if that would be too roomy for my foot, want to wear this with regular type socks int he fall. What is your opinion?

A real shame they have discontinued these - I absolutely love mine, the colour is fantastic. Slightly higher than a regular Chelsea style boot and, after a little breaking in, are one of the most comfy/best winter boots I've ever owned. I wear them almost daily - I should really have bought the dark brown version as well to alternate. Hopefully the weather will start drying up a bit soon so I can start alternating with my suede Chatsworths. I highly recommend anyone picking up a pair whilst there is a little stock still knocking about out there.

I have a question! I am a dancer and my dance shoes all have leather soles. They’re perfect for dancing. My issue is that I can’t wear the shoes off the dance floor, otherwise the sole is ruined. But I’d love to be able to wear my shoes out as well. Is there a way to cover the leather sole when wearing outside, but which can be removed for dancing? So the contraption would need to be easily applied and easily removed on the move. Does such a thing exist? Am I dreaming?

Website says made overseas!!! Sell out or still good quality? Mr sponsored video maker
@theshoeman17565 ай бұрын
First if I may, I am not and never have been sponsored by anyone. I make occasional videos because I am often asked to by customers or potential customers. I do this freely, and am only offering my own personal and if you like, after over 17 years working in my own store with these brands my ‘professional’ opinion. My opinions are unbiased and always honest, but then all of my customers for so many years would know that. It is true, that some LOAKE and Barker models are made in India, and elsewhere too. LOAKE actually own the factory in India (so they tell me) and they also do some cutting and closing of the uppers of higher spec models in India too, building and finishing then in Kettering UK. Barker actually cut and close all of their higher spec models in India………Mr. sponsored video maker pmsl !

Hello shoe man. Regarding leather, do barker creative collection use European calf skin?
@markfletcher49842 ай бұрын
@@byN91 The last information I had, was that most of the leather used by Barker Shoes is sourced from around Europe. I would think perhaps the International collection, made start to finish in India, that leather may not be European ......

Great video - anyone have any sizing advice on the Loake Chester? I'm a 9 on the capital last but apparently the 024 is larger to allow for a thick sock. I'll be wearing a thin/medium sock so should I size down? Thanks in advance!
@theshoeman17565 ай бұрын
Hi Adam, thank you for your question. First and regardless, the one way to be sure how well a shoe fits or not, is to try them on. No amount of information or advice can guarantee a perfect fit but I am always happy to try :-) Working with thousands of customers over the years, and considering all of the 'averages' I don't usually find customers needing to change sizes between the Capital Last and 024 Last. Some may find the 024 slightly more generous, but not enough to be able to change size. Hope this helps and if you require more help or information, please feel free to call me in store on 01302 360985 and I will be more than happy to help with a potential purchase of the Chester :-)

Redbacks are definitely comfortable and built better than Blundstone, although blundstones look better in my opinion but redbacks are definitely more of a work boot. The build quality is just more sturdy, and seems more stable than Blunstone. I love my bunnies I just wish my foot fit the redback steel toe. Great boots !
