I think Diesel fuel is much cheaper in the USA? I have just (May 2024) paid slightly over £0.78 per litre for 4000 litres of red (tractor) Diesel - that's £2.95 an US gallon. It has actually gone down - last year we paid £0.85 a litre at harvest time. .
@MrShoptaw13 күн бұрын
All fuel in California is ridiculously expensive.
@johnfearnley771213 күн бұрын
@@MrShoptaw Hello Charlie! I'm surprised to hear that! In the UK our government puts a huge amount of tax on fuel. I think Diesel for road vehicles is around £1.60 a litre here - That's over £6.00 a US gallon. Diesel isn't as much as that in California is it? (Agricultural users like me pay at lot less for tractor - red - Diese) John.

I am 65 years old, done quite a bit in my life, but never logged or sawed wood. I do have an honest question, out of ignorance I guess. Is there some specific reason you dump a log in a pig waller, and then winch it back up a ramp to the mill ? With all your skills I had thought you would have make a dump ramp a long time ago. I can't figure out what mud, water and frog effluence would do to help you cut a log. Phil
@MrShoptaw26 күн бұрын
Mills of that vintage used "mill ponds" to sort and stage the logs for milling. The California drought has taken its toll on the springs that feed the pond so now they are stuck with what you see until the rains return. In some of my other videos of the mill you see the pond as it should be. Thanks for watching the video.
