Aaahhh!! GP MIDGETS? . . . Wow! Russ, if you don't mind me asking, how old is this video? It looks recent. I was starting to think that the whole Division was finished, and that they were now a "thing of the past." My God, in the modern "World of Speedway" this, to me at least, is like a bloody Yowie sighting, rare, more than likely bullshit, but ALWAYS exciting!!

It was last night 26-10-24. The division is small at the moment, but has a good following. I love them

@videoruss I've loved them for literally decades. At least since the 1970s. Couldn't tell where it was that I'd first saw them, but I just had this nasty feeling that they were a "thing a the past." I had a real feeling of relief and nostalgia come over me when I saw the video. Unbelievable!!

Russ, Russ, Russ whatever were you thinking when you titled this video, mate? This is very definitely a pre-1990 race. Just by the fact that Bob Blacklaw was running the Bars-Leaks sponsored car tells me that this is 1980s. Plus he's got the NSW No1 indicating that he was the State Sprintcar Champion for that year.

Look at all those beautiful old Ford's and Holden's, being flipped and flopped, then off for a big squash." You're literally looking at tens of thousands of dollars in each and every single "Fender Bender Get Together," if those "win a classic Aussie Car Raffle" (estimated top prize values) are anything to go by!! Some of these very same models of barely 25yr old cars, worth $1,500 or less at the time, are quoted as being some of THE most top priced Australian made and produced cars, of ALL TIME!! And to think, I owned at least two HTs and one HG, as well as one XU Torana over the years. I wish I had the bastards now!! I could pay off at least one of my kids mortgages!!

Looking for videos of my grandfather David beamish he raced at Claremont in the 80s super sedans or sedans I’m unsure
@frenzalrhomb69192 ай бұрын
Has your Grandfather passed away? That would answer your question as to what division he raced in. Because I'm sure that I've heard mention made of him on this very channel in the past, though I may of course be wrong. I'm sure that your parents may have an answer for you. It would be quite helpful if you could provide a little more information on him. Like what make or model car he drove. Maybe the car number or paint scheme, the name of his sponsors, that kind of thing.

@@frenzalrhomb6919 yes he passed before I could ask
@frenzalrhomb69192 ай бұрын
@@Clean.MP4 Geez, mate I'm sorry to hear that. So you're at a bit of an impasse with it aren't you? Perhaps if you were to get in touch with the Divisions Club? Perhaps they could steer you in the right direction? I don't know to be honest. I'm just thinking off the top of my head, but that's probably your best bet, is to get in touch with the State branch of the Club, probably online I suppose. Try getting in touch with both of the Divisions State branch Secretary's office. Something like that is a good bet, or a Facebook page that deals with Claremont memorabilia and the like, that might be something you might like to try? Like I said before, I'm just guessing in an effort to help. I hope your efforts prove fruitful. All the best from Sydney!
