I recently was in downtown ottawa on a Saturday morning…it literally looks like the zombie apocalypse took place there. Really disturbing and a pretty good representation of the current government. Anyways, I don’t know who in their right mind wants to be a stone’s throw away from that mess.

In Vancouver and Ottawa, I often used buses and got shocked. Bus drivers in Canada are like F1 drivers. I’m from Japan and in my country there’re gonna be fired or sent to a rehab center. They’re totally not driving friendly to passengers, who are all being swung back and forth, side by side, up and down, it’s just like a roller coaster. Canada is enjoying diversity, but Japanese tourists are afraid of immigrant drivers, never be trained to drive safely.

Where's this guy from, he's always butchering Ottawa place names like an American would, not only did he get Pinhey's Point grossly wrong the first time, when he suggested another pronunciation he got it stupidly wrong yet again. So very pathetic and ANNOYING!

St. Rose of Lima is in Bayshore NOT Orleans. It has a very diverse immigrant population. Please correct this in your video. It's great to see that this school scored well. Also, not a mention of any french schools considering this is Ottawa? French schools do so very well in their scores.

Hi, how you doing.. Do you have idea regarding market (employment opportunities) for lawyers in Ottawa
@LivingInOttawa
@LivingInOttawa 3 ай бұрын
Hey there! I’m doing well, thanks for asking. As for the legal market in Ottawa, it’s pretty solid, especially in areas like government, public policy, and tech law. The city has a good mix of private firms, government positions, and opportunities in academia, so there’s definitely potential. Hope that helps!

Ambulance response times in Greely can vary depending on factors like demand and traffic conditions. If you're concerned about specific wait times, it might be helpful to reach out to local emergency services for the most accurate information.

Hi, very sorry that you’re about to be bombarded with questions but I REALLY need your insight since you seem like the right guy for it. So, I’m considering moving to Ottawa as an international student for college (alone), do you think that’ll be a good idea? I’m not too much into the nightlife and getting wasted but more of the type to stay home, draw, read and going out on walks and cafes, just the average introvert. I’m a pretty creative person and plan on doing psychology for my studies, do you think that I’ll be able to find a job after I graduate since Ottawa is known for their government related jobs? Also, are winters that hard to get used to? I come from a tropical country (Panama) so it’s pretty hot all year round (I always keep my AC on when I’m home haha) and I’m very worried about the harsh winters and so are my parents, they are worried I might regret going to Ottawa because of that. Are there a lot of places to visit? I know there are museums and all but are there a lot of places to hang out with friends or go out to? (Cafes, restaurants, malls) Are there a lot of homeless people or crime going around? There was a comment on this video talking about it and it worried me a bit. I want to be in a safe environment, especially as a girl who’s going alone to a different country for her studies :’) What are some transportation options I could take? Like for day to day life or to maybe visit Montreal or Toronto? By car wouldn’t be an option since I don’t think I’ll get one. I was considering Montreal for my studies but with the new law about French I had to give up, no way I was going to be fluent in it in a few months. Toronto and Vancouver are very expensive and I’m worried I wont be able to afford it so I ended up with Ottawa. Once again, really sorry for the bunch of questions but really want to know your opinions on these since I don’t have anybody else to ask then to 😭😭
@LivingInOttawa
@LivingInOttawa 3 ай бұрын
No worries at all-I'm happy to help with your questions! Moving to Ottawa as an international student sounds like a great idea, especially given what you've shared. Ottawa has a vibrant student community and is generally considered safe, making it a good environment for someone coming from abroad. It’s also a city that offers a lot for introverts like you: plenty of cozy cafes, beautiful parks for walks, and quiet spots perfect for reading or drawing. As for studying psychology, Ottawa has solid opportunities, especially if you're interested in government-related work or research after graduation. While it’s true that the city is known for its government jobs, there’s also a growing creative and tech scene that could align well with your interests. Now, about the winters-I won’t sugarcoat it: they can be pretty intense, especially if you’re used to tropical weather. However, many international students adapt by layering up, investing in good winter gear, and embracing indoor activities during the colder months. The city does a great job of keeping things running smoothly despite the snow, and there's something magical about an Ottawa winter once you get used to it! In terms of places to visit, Ottawa has a good mix of museums, restaurants, malls, and cultural spots. Whether you want to hang out with friends or find a new favourite cafe, you'll have plenty of options. Regarding safety, Ottawa is generally very safe, especially compared to larger cities like Toronto or Vancouver. Like any city, it has its challenges, but crime rates are relatively low, and most areas are quite secure, especially those around universities and popular student neighbourhoods. As for transportation, while Ottawa has a public transit system with buses and light rail, it does have its challenges. You might experience longer wait times, and service can be inconsistent, especially during peak hours or in bad weather. However, it should still cover your daily needs. For trips to Montreal or Toronto, you can easily take a train or bus-both are well-connected and convenient options. Given your concerns about language in Montreal and the cost of living in Toronto and Vancouver, Ottawa strikes a nice balance. It’s a bit more affordable, and you won’t have to worry about needing to be fluent in French. I hope this helps ease some of your concerns! Ottawa is a wonderful city, and I think it could be a great fit for you.

I agree with this list with the exception of the Market. While years ago it may have been somewhat desirable, these days it has hit rock bottom and has become a cesspool. And it’s no place to raise a family. I don’t know anyone who would want to live there. I can get on board with Sandy Hill, Old Ottawa South or New Eddy, however.
@LivingInOttawa
@LivingInOttawa 3 ай бұрын
I completely understand your thoughts on the Market. It really took a downturn during COVID, and it's not the same as it used to be-definitely not as family-friendly. Sandy Hill, Old Ottawa South, and New Edinburgh are solid alternatives with their own unique vibes. Appreciate you sharing your perspective!

Honestly? I never avoid talking about Pineview-there’s just so much ground to cover in Ottawa! Pineview’s on the radar, but with a business to run, homes to buy and sell, and a family to raise, sometimes it’s all about timing. But don’t worry, it’s definitely on the to-do list!
