Your way to study the bible is good . I'm doing like you I have two translations to study one for lecture and other one to study .And I find it's very interesting to compare two translations. I often use translation of the new world and bible easy to read in English and i use REINA VALERA in Spanish and for me is a rich study bible .for example in REINA VALERA you can find the name of God JEHOVAH . Thank you hearing from you .I'm RICHARD coming from LYON in FRANCE

I just ordered this same Bible but in the giant print (13 pt font). I found the 2017 text in the brown goatskin leather was still available from Amazon but only in the indexed version, but that's okay. I'm very glad I found it. CBD and Lifeway no longer have it. Tell me, Chris, does the 2017 edition have nice paper? I ask because I had bought the 2020 edition giant print in leathertex but had to return it due to a defect. That 2020 printing had very thin paper.

The friend I honestly cannot answer that question because I don't have a 20/20 version of the text. However I am considering picking one up just so I can have one and it will probably be in a super giant print. I'm glad you scored this it's a good deal. Also thank you for watching I appreciate it.

Thanks for reminding us about this important subject. Context is crucial in understanding all that God would teach us as we think deeply about His Word. It's too easy to lift a verse out and isolate it without thinking about it as part of the larger body of God-breathed text. Very often the context can enrich our understanding. In fact, while verse divisions are so very helpful, it pays to keep in mind there aren't any in the original. Thanks again.

I appreciate that very much. With the exception of some passages in Hebrews and Romans I don't think Christianity is really all that complicated. If we're genuine and open with people the Bible's pretty clear on the simplistic things we are to do to encourage one another. Seriously there's some pretty complicated theological issues to work out but that's not really what this particular channel is about. I want to encourage people with my testimony my successes and even my failures. That's the whole purpose of this channel and from time to time we will tackle theological issues.

I may be late to comment but for your GTL (Lancoumbe ?) highlighters not working because the pieces are too small, have you tried using a lollipop handle inside the pen to make up the difference for those tiny unused portions you have? I think it might work to push down the tiny bits as I am guessing the lollipop stick (or handle) is the same width as the highlighter refills? These are all guesses on my part but I thought it might work.

Like you I started with the NIV in the 80s then later moved to the NASB. Along the way I acquired a ESV study Bible and I really liked the translation. When I had to retire the NASB due to the 10.5 font no longer be large enough. I wanted to get an ESV reference Bible with around a 13 font. But unfortunately Crossway didn't make such a thing. After a lot of searching I came to the NKJV as most like the ESV for the beautiful flow of wording especially in the poetry. I still have a '84 NIV for reference and clarification use. I'm now wanting to get a CSB due to your (and other reviwers) recommendations. All the translations mentioned are the word of God and we're blessed to have so many wonnderful choices.

Thank you so much for your great reviews of giant print Bibles. It's difficult to find reviews online. I'm more of a NKJV user, but I also have an NIV that I use for reference and a NASB, but the print is just too small in the NASB, so I'm going to have to retire that one. Watching your reviews I'm leaning toward getting a CSB translation to use along side my New King James. I do wish that you reviewed the NKJV but I know everybody only has room for just so many translations in their life. Thanks again for all you do for so many people.

CSB and NASB essentially use the same Greek text derived from the same Greek manuscripts (from the Alexandrian text family). I would use the NASB or ESV for the Alexandrian Text and the NKJV for the Byzantine Text (TR aka Textus Receptus).
@itsstillcalledtoday9928
@itsstillcalledtoday9928 5 ай бұрын
I would love to use the ESV. It's a great translation however as someone who is legally blind they have left me out in the absolute frigid cold. They only have a large print which consists of a 12-point font which is below my ability to read it and they have a super giant print that's 17.5 and that Bible weighs 6 lb and there's absolutely nothing in between. But that is a pretty good suggestion
@itsstillcalledtoday9928
@itsstillcalledtoday9928 5 ай бұрын
I do think there is enough difference between these two translations in the English words that they use to help you get a good grasp on scripture. I do think once again that's a really good idea. Now I'm going to have to buy me a new King James lol

These Lockman LeatherTex NASBs are very nice. The quality you can get from them for a relatively low price is very impressive, considering how nice the cover, paper, printing and ribbons are. Crossway should take note: these are less expensive than some of their TruTone covered ESVs, but have better ribbons than they put on their premium "Heirloom" Bibles that cost five or six times as much. The poor ribbons they use would keep me from buying one of those Heirloom Omegas. I generally don't like what I call "plastic" covers, but Lockman have done very well here.

This is the only response I'm going to give to this argument because I'm tired of it. 1. The King James version should be honored among all believers because it is a good translation of God's word that is not under debate. 2. We don't speak Elizabethan English anymore and it's hard for the average person to understand. At the time it was written it was common vernacular. 2. Prior to the King James the Latin Vulgate was the standard mostly because that's all there was. The word Vulgate means "vulgar or common", because many people spoke Latin. 3. When William Tyndale dared to translate the Latin Vulgate into English he was burned at the stake for his trouble because people thought that the Latin Vulgate was the best translation of all time and should never be retranslated again. 4. The New testament was written in Koine Greek, "konie" means common it was the "lingua franca" of its time because everybody spoke it and people could understand it. 5 language changes. In the 1920s gay meant happy it no longer means that. The common theme here is that people need God's word in a language they can understand. I've been where you are and then I learned how language works and then I realized we're doing people a great disservice but not having a Bible in modern English. This is going to be my only response to this post.

thank you .. yea .. i have the same experience .. not that i am anywhere close to the Apostle Paul .. but i am resolved .. that afflictions are often placed upon believers .. as for myself .. my walking with the Lord these last 45 years has shown me .. that power is perfected in weakness .. that His grace is sufficient .. that hardship and trials and temptations and failings and difficulties and shortcomings .. are just part of the normal Christian walk .. i wish it were not so .. because many times the challenges of life can become overwhelming .. but scripture states .. "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren." (Romans 8:29) .. we might not understand it all .. but on the other side of Glory we will comprehend perfectly .. much love in Jesus ..

From reading the scriptures I realize that God could’ve created any universe HE wanted. HE knew that Satan would rebel and take one third of the angels with him, yet HE created him anyway. HE knew the devil would tempt Adam and Eve, causing them to sin, yet HE let him do it. HE is ultimately responsible for every evil thing that occurs on this planet. Every child that starves to death, every girl is sex trafficked, every Jew that was gassed and incinerated in World War II; The ultimate responsibility can be placed at the feet of God.
