They need to promote a derby that pays the guys who put on a show. Put more money on the mad dog and less money on the trophy’s. Also put money on awards for guys with the most heart like 890 in this video car was bellied and cross eyed and he was still trying. And then put bounty’s on sand baggers. I’ve been a derby kid for 37 years and I hate seeing bumper cars love seeing the cars that are full ringing guys and rolling cars over.

I just have to ask. As a former derby driver from the mid 2000s, there werent all of these different classes. I am not familiar with the "wheelman" class. Could someone enlighten me as to what it is, please? I am definitely a fan of branding cars as sandbaggers. 😂

Wheelman is a fancy word for The Best of The Best in this sport. Ultimate Derby, the one promoting the show, has multiple other big shows throughout the year where if you finish in the top 3 spots, you're guaranteed a spot in this event/class. 20k to win for this class alone! You have to place in some of the best shows around the country from Utah to Pennsylvania to get in. Examples would be Midwest Massacre (IL), Whiskey City Revaluation (IL), Iron City Nationals (PA), Wasatch County Fair (UT), Black Hills Beatdown (SD) or Metal Mayhem (IL).

The rule was no pinning until there is only one competitor's car left. Judges spent a great deal of time waving off cars that were in a position to pin whether they were doing it or not.
