When I see this scene, it does remind me about about the singers who don't have to win awards or get famous. They are talented in every way. Even though reality gets to them to wear they have to take an ass beating.

The British version is a true classic in a similar way to Fawlty Towers. Ending it sooner rather than later ensures it goes down in history as such. Sadly the US version went on and on ad nauseam and was very unfunny. It will be forgotten.

The more you watch it the more realise, David wasn't as mad or stupid as you think . Just look at the people around him . He was surrounded by the stupid, the boring, the Political correct, and he was just a guy who had jokes and laughs to be had but the wrong audience and struggled to keep up with the times. That didn't always mean the people he 'offended' were right.

Ooooh we wouldn't want to actually have a series that lasted more than a handful of episodes that would make us a lot of money. This is art. Give me a break.

Llewyn Davis is Dave Van Ronk. Dave had an album (of many) titled Inside Dave Van Ronk, and off to the side in the door is a cat. Llewyn in this film even resembles Van Ronk. Bob Dylan was always in awe of Dave, aside from Woody Guthrie. In his book Chronicles, Dylan states that "Dave didn't give a s**t about being world famous or signing on with Columbia or any other boutique label" (he was already recording for Folkways Records long before Dylan arrived in NYC) and he's the one that got Dylan work at the Gaslight. Bob and Suze Rotolo (the girl on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan cover) were great friends with Dave van Ronk and Terry Thal (his wife at the time). If anything this film is pure fantasy and a blend of Greenwich Village personalities of the time. That being said, it is a splendid film.

The original Brent from the pilot was a lot more sleazy. Just the way he spoke didn’t have as much intonation or humour. He really did come across as a creepy boss. Brent in the series was far better. Still creepy in aspects but far more vulnerable that you felt sorry for him.

I guess the optimistic side of me thought the movie ended just when Llewellyn luck was about to change for the better and that all the struggles he endured payed off. Once Dylan hit the Greenwich scene is when folk took off. Llewellyn would of been right smack in the heart of the thriving folk scene. He would never have the career dylan had but with more interest in folk music the coffee shops would have 20 times the customers which would mean more gigs and more money.

A scruffy baby face Jewish kid from hibbing Minnesota, And because it was the '60s he could hide some of that some of and recreate himself ad Bob Dylan. A man is he claimed in writings in radio reviews around that time that he ran away from home joined the circus have been playing music for many years. It was all lies but Dylan understood the importance of creating A clown like character much like Charlie Chaplin's hobo. And it helped that Bob Dylan was immensely talented and by owning his craft he would become one of the finest songwriters ever. The man did he conquer that folk scene, And somebody said it was a weird scene but you couldn't be weirder than Bob Dylan That's why nobody could get over him. And his voice like you hear there was perfect for focus It had authentication. He sounded like he had lived his troubles he singing. In the words he could write made everyone a believer. And the best thing about Dylan, soon as he conquered that scene He wanted to move huh. When electric at the 65 Newport folk festival in every looked back where there was no direction home.

The other thing about this show was the timing of when it was made. I don't know what office life is like now but in the 90's/early 00's, office culture really was very much like this and so the show caught this culture at just the right time. It was like if someone had been making a documentary about Brit pop in 1996. Timing was everything and they got this absolutely bang on. I am not sure, it would work so much if made today.
