How would this compare with the Knaggs? If you had to pick one?
@VinnyTheAxe
@VinnyTheAxe 18 күн бұрын
@@timothybean9706 rock and roll relics is built well and plays great. I was not a fan of the Mojotone pickups I would say that I prefer the knaggs more if I had to choose. Knaggs is a brand new style finish and the RnR is a relic so you have that difference as well. Can’t go wrong with either. RnR is a harder resale than the Knaggs in my opinion. So I would say I love the knaggs and would pick this over the RnR hands down.

@@VinnyTheAxe that’s great to know! I’m saving up for the “ultimate” p-90 guitar and was going between a RNRR Starfighter, Knaggs Kenai, Novo Serus P2, or Gibson CS 54 LP Custom. Right now, seems the main battle is between the Knaggs and Gibson!
@VinnyTheAxe

@@timothybean9706 I think I know what you’re going for. I would stay focused on a Gibson Lp special or Jr. or the Knaggs. I would say the custom shop special or jr are great. If you get a good one. Bang for buck the Knaggs Kenai will hit the mark, unless you really need the Gibson logo on the head stock.

Just bought a 2024 US Paul’s in Black Gold. But I was hunting for one. I went from “one of each” AKA a tele, a strat, a Les Paul. A LP Jr, a Ric, a Hollowbody, a Jazzmaster to buying a Core Limited PRS 594 in 2019 and selling everything in search of more PRS. I really think Paul is in his “Golden Era” like Gibson was in the late 50s. Now I have three US PRS - a SC594, a Silver Sky and a Paul’s. Along with an HSS Strat from HS and an Electric XII, I’m all set.

I've NEVER got along with the JB. So many of my favorite guitar tones are recorded with it (Jake E Lee, Dave Mustaine .etc), in fact It sounds great on a record but I've just never liked it. It's too hot for PAF style/classic tones and it has all these weird EQ Spikes at around 1-2.5k that just make it unpleasent for metal tones imo. Not to mention that flubby low end that makes palm mutes sound kinda lifeless. Again a lot of people have made great sounding tones on it, I just don't like the way it sounds when I plug into an amp and play. It's never worked for me. The Dimarzio Illuminator is a much better all around pickup imo, but it's all down to taste. How do you like the way it feels when you strike a chord and palm mute. That's where the JB fails me. Yeah it sounds good in a mix but I just don't like it when I'm playing by myself. The thing i really hate about the JB is people act like it's the end all be all of pickups, just buy one of those and throw it in there and forget about it. Screw that, try as many pickups as you can until you find the one that makes you want to pick up your guitar and play.
@VinnyTheAxe
@VinnyTheAxe Ай бұрын
@@loydthabartender5794I totally agree. Palm muting with the Jb just sounds weird. It’s not tight percussively. It’s really hard to explain. I think its fault is that it has too much power. I wonder what a low wind version of it would sound like? Yeah so many pickups out there, and a lot of good ones to try for sure.

I got 2525c like 3 months ago for home practice, in rehersal room I got Bogner XTC Anniversary 6L6 with 4x12. I am happy to have two amps with diffrent tubes. When playing home quiet Marshall sounds thick and sweet. But when playing loud with Bogner 4x12 cabinet I was missing half the tone I got from Bogner. It was like mp3 and CD Quality. Some tones were simply not there and much less harmonics. But it cost 800 Euro and Bogner with cab is like 7000 Euro. Even thou it was still rocking. So in my opinion the amp is very good for the price.

If you can afford em and love em a lot why not have more, Otherwise i try to go after what i actually use regulary + do actually like them. Buut i dont have that expensive instruments so its kinda easier to keem em for longer haha, for 3k to more ( u mentioned the murphy lab) id be looking after every detail too, also the second hand market in my country is basically 0 si cant rly find deals or even who to sell stuff I have a chinese tokai and a japenese one that i might sell cuz it seems i prefer the cheaper one more (so 2 guitars) A schecter nick johnston strat that is basically ' my first guitar since i sold my super-modern-strats ' that werent the bluesrock machines that i needed after the prog phase And got an ibanez quest headless to travel easily. If i were to buy something, id sell the MIJ tokai and get a murphy lab lp or boutique lp, and maybe a better cooler strat. But right now i wanna travel more so buying guitars to have them sit at home unplayed isnt helping in anyway right now ;D Honestly id prefer to chance to play more guitars more often than owning them. Cool fun collection !!

Prs always seemed too fancy for my style, too clean. Like even a brand new clean les paul doesnt look *this * pristine you know haha ? I guess its all about you if u feel inspired by the look of it and u have a job for it whatever that is ( gigs, studio, 4fun at home which is also totally fine ) For me a guitar does have to inspire look wise. Most instruments sound good or u can learn to make em sound good, so why not go exactly after what you prefer the most, whatever each indivdual prefer. Is does kinda suit you tho ngl. The color is great and the inlays i actually like instead of the usual smalle birds. And becouse of the darker spots on the finish, i think it makes it look a little less pristine in a good way to me. More real and alive .

I have a few superstrats, got a JB, a distortion, a Shawbucker 1, and the ‘78. The 78 is so great!! For you guys out there that like a high gain lead tone but like to use your volume knob to control gain the 78’ works great. I set my amp hot and volume fully open for my lead tone and back down the volume knob to about 7/8 for a driving rhythm tone. Crank to ten for leads and the 78 brings in more highs/treble and the gain goes up! Perfect!
