@finnmilek5793 күн бұрын
This has been said multiple times already but i would like to emphasize it again Focus on a strong set and kind of pop from your toes it helps you stay front seat. You are whipping your head around and looking up which sends you off axis and thats why you land backseat, focus on looking almost back at your friends above you that helped me dial them in, i was looking straight at the ground which sent me backseat as well. I would also suggest focusing on a wide stance coming into the jump, and getting a strong pop out of that stance trust it will make you feel much more solid in the air. Hope this helps i have been dialing grabs in this year and have probably done hundreds in the last couple months and this is the advice from my coaches that really helped the most.
@Clinttoz2 күн бұрын
I appreciate you saying it again! The looking at the ground is so hard for me for some reason. Someone commented that I should put my chin in my armpit and I’m hyped to give that a try
@madnes12apexclips773 күн бұрын
Hey I saw that when you rotate you look over your shoulder like if you were trying to cork it, try bending you knee a little while rotating and with your head try to look for the landing. it should help with the fact that you aren’t spinning in a straight axis. Also wind up the rotation too much with your arm just a little pop should be enough. Hope that help :)

You only need to do one thing to fix your set and one thing to fix your rotation. To fix your set you need to throw your outside shoulder deliberately forward, use your legs to get your body weight moving from centered over the ski to over your toes as you throw your shoulder forward and around. To fix your rotation you need to look your head down and around your body, try to bury your chin into you left arm pit and hold it there until you come around. If you throw your right shoulder forward into tucking your head down and around you will be in control of the spin and you will land a 3 likely on your first try if not the second if you actually do those two things.
@Clinttoz3 күн бұрын
the chin in the arm pit thing makes so much sense. I feel like I’m over complicating it. Ty

I'm struggling with 3's too. I can sometimes land them but they are sketch. My 180's are solid though, so I'm just trying to slowly turn them into 270's and eventually 3's. Thinking about punching my trailing hand around in front of me like I'm putting on a car seatbelt has been the most helpful tip I've gotten so far, it might help you to keep your axis cleaner. We'll both get it eventually!
@wizard00783 күн бұрын
Yeah you look way too agressively for the landing. The way i learned it was to imagine a snowball in your outer hand and throwing it over the shoulder. Then, just follow where the snowball would fly. It would maybe also help to do 180s first and really get a feel for it.

Haha, I know it very well, Had the same feeling, lots of tries, falls, angry, but finally I made it. Key points: make you rotation smoother, spread the arms, look to the ground always, DO NOT STRAIGTHEN YOUR CORE. Go practice it to the airbag, go practice on rollerskates, rollerskate it to the soft foam.

my advice is to keep your arm open. really exaggerate keeping your arms out and in rotation for practice (good technique before steeze). i can see each time you're about to land 270 you get psyched out and close your arm/rotation

@justinmarineau69514 күн бұрын
@Clinttoz i actually started at 4 lol but i started park this year i wish id started sooner because i mastered everything but im a noob in the park. I was learning backflip on the ground last year but i never tried it i was only doing it on a gymnastic like mattress (super soft) and landing on my knees. As of frontflips im confident i could get it in few tries since ive been doing them on tramp sincei can remember and i did one off an elevated platform and i got it first try. Misty 5 i only did in a tramp i tried 2 times landing on a matress but i wasnt jumping properly and i diddnt get it. Im waiting for more snow to maybe build a ramp near my house in an abandonned golf where my older cousin used to make one with his friends. Thats where they learned backflips, front flips cork, etc...

If 360‘s are hard try to break it down. Learn a proper 180 on the same jump you want to 360. Then eventually search for a Sidelip to make a 270. Keep the speed as low as possible… When you learn how to windup and Pop correctly you really can to them on flat ground and don‘t even need a kicker. But just don‘t start big🙏🏼
@Clinttoz4 күн бұрын
Yeah I’m starting to wonder if just setting for a big 180 and holding a safety grab would put me into a 360. The 180’s seem to come around fine and I feel comfy w them, but for some reason I become a mess with a full rotation Appreciate the advice :)
@jamesbarrett23804 күн бұрын
It looks like your arms are throwing you off axis heavily, I watched the footage back, you drive your leading arm downwards, and your trailing arm fires upwards, this throws you off axis and tips you back, I would reccomend trying more 3's just on your feet and feeling how different arm positions can either help you or hurt you, once you have that try and go for a 3, focus on being centered in your skis and having your shoulders squared with the lip, dont lean off axis to start the rotation, try to set evenly and just rotate and lead with your head.
@Clinttoz4 күн бұрын
100% see what you’re talking about with the dropping an arm. Seems like that’s something I do with all my 3’s even the footage from last year I was doing this. I’ve been practicing them on flat ground since posting this, and it seems like I only drop an arm when spinning left. I think I have been doing them on my unnat side this whole hahahahaha
@jamesbarrett23804 күн бұрын
@@Clinttoz Hell maybe dude! I spin right too! might just be time to try.
@IRON_NIC5 күн бұрын
1:09 that's the problem. Look at how the right arm completely locks at the 180 degree position and breaks your mid-air balance. Same thing happens at 12:13 I had the exact same issue, your arms should go all the way 360 too. not stop at 180. You should keep them spinning and stop the rotation only once they are in line with the landing. Try doing this on a trampoline, or when you jump with skis, try to think to "keep your arms and shoulders spinning" all the way to 360. it really worked for me.
@Clinttoz4 күн бұрын
Dude thank u for typing this out. Theres some amazing advice in the comments but no one has addressed the stopping at 180 thing. I feel like all my 3’s just stop at 180 and I have been trying to crank it to get any further. This makes so much sense, hyped to give these a try again

Ignore your knees for now, you need to fix your set first. 1. Pop forwards. Your goal is to get your hips forward- you do this just fine on a straight air, the 3 is no different. Right now your pop is perpendicular to the jump angle, which you would do for a backie 2. Wind up less. A 3 doesn’t need that much juice. A small snappy unwind is all you need. You want to pop with your head, shoulders (arms) and hips mostly aligned. 3. Look lower. Basically the angle you’d look down at the landing for a straight air Hope this helps. If not, come to summit and I’ll help ya :)

@@ClinttozI do competitive Slopestyle skiing. The only things I would add on to this list are 1. Keep your head calm you don’t need to huck it back or to the side like a backflip. 2. keep your lead arm open (left arm when spinning right) 3. Warm up with 180’s. This helps a lot to get the set down, then you can work up to 360’s Also I think you got it with a couple more try’s on a park jump you don’t need to wait for a perfect pow jump to send some 3’s. although it would help😂

I've snowboarded once, never ski'ded'ed, but skated for 13 years. I agree with your assessment, just from watching the first few minutes of the video it seems like our friend Clint needs to give care to his orientation throughout the spin, and not just his rotation!
