A lot of fans of Star Trek that I know had forgotten that this theme music was originally for this film.

Yeah, you're right. Its the moving stars maybe. Static starfield, but the stars moving by. Good observation. Hope you liked it!

It's a crime that the first Star Trek movie doesn't open with the iconic TV series theme
@ChrisS-no3ft Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that would have been cool. I think they felt it was a little cheesy and outdated. But Goldsmith's Main title march is one of the best movie themes of all time in my opinion. I wanted to honor what came before, so instead of making the titles gold like in the Director's Edition (which I didn't like-looked amateurish) Since the original titles were plain white, I wanted to just tweak it, instead of re-inventing it, with bright metallic letters that are almost white, and adding the starfield of course. Thanks for checking it out! LLAP

It was created from the idea of Star Trek phase 2 but everything was refurbished from the TV show to show progress.

That little drum roll at the beginning! That’s amazing. I always thought odd that the intro just kinda started too abruptly.
@ChrisS-no3ft Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I did some tinkering with the main title. Added a drum roll, and snares. Also added just a bit of reverb.

@@CrushedOrangeProd Thank you so much. I’m going to be replacing my Star Trek 2 titles shortly. It needs a few tweaks. Im also working on a new intro for Star Trek 3, but because of the footage and sophistication, that one will take a while. Did you check out Picard season 3 yet? So far so good!

It's for the fact there was a Big Television Fan demographic and TNG usurped the Main Title. Fun Fact of the TNG versions is there was only one Main Stanza at the beginning in every season. In the first season there is nothing there on the Logo until Patrick Stewarts name is shown. This is revised in the Second season where they only use one stanza on the logo. None of TNG's movies start with the Main Title, this is only reserved for TMP and V:TFF kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHzNqJtvg5qCarM

Blame that on TV culture. This theme was reprised for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and it was cropped for the "Main Title" part of "The Mountain" Here's a Fan reboot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHLGpHZ5m6yFma8si=mXS6vJHqCGN5DmWt

MaMind if I share my take on the Opening Titles? I did these last year. Director's Edition kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmnVqKFsgM6YjtU Theatrical Edition (Same as above but with the quick edits and silver titles) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqWqlqR6ZppmrMk One thing that motivated me to do these edits was to 'adjust' a lettering inconsistency that is present on the Director's Editions titles. You see, the way the titles are able to conform the subtitle 'The Motion Picture' was by enlarging the first and last letters, this being the 'S' in Star and the 'K' in Trek. The issue with enlarging these letters causes the 'weight' of the letters to change. Note how the straight line on the top portion of the 'S' is a lot thicker than the straight line on the top portion of the 'T'. The 'S' and 'K' are much thicker. What I tried to do with my titles was match the weight of the letters from the baseline up, but enlarge the straight streaks when it goes below, so that the streaks don't look too thinner than the 'The Motion Picture' subtitle. Thoughts?

Where did you get the TNG theme from at 5:58?
@ChrisS-no3ft2 жыл бұрын
This is why I love my fellow fans! We’re a pretty sharp bunch! Yes, I wanted the ‘complete’ main title, so what I did was use an alternate take from Star Trek:TMP super extended edition (its not called that, but its got raw takes right from the studio, blaster beam samples etc) and used FL Studio to edit it together as smoothly as possible. Its not perfect, but near spot-on as far as timing. I had to add some reverb because the first film didnt have a lot of that, so it matched the STV mix as best as possible. But yeah, I’m pretty OCD, so I tried to make it as seamless as possible. Many younger fans think this theme originated with TNG, but actually, it was the original theme for 1979’s Star Trek:The Motion Picture. Hope you enjoyed it though. I really want to try my hand at doing a Star Trek III remaster, but without some serious CGI software and computing power, It would be hard to recreate the genesis planet with the coffin, and the slow pulling back from the clouds which, unless I can find some HD cloud footage that matches that closely, would be hard to generate with the limited software that I have. My software and PC are pretty darn good, but not hollywood good. Im workin on it! Thanks for posting. Much love!

Yes, the Director's Cut credits look yellow (and cheap), not gold.
@ChrisS-no3ft2 жыл бұрын
Yeah right? I thought that too. In a way, it was kinda cool that TMP opened first off with a black screen overture, almost like music before the curtains open in a broadway show. Then, plain white styled font against a plain black background, with Goldsmith’s opening march. Seems boring, but yet exciting, as they fade in to the cloud, so while the music is proud and adventurous, the plain background suggests “take in the plain now, because for the next 2 hours, you’ll be amazed at what you see”. Lol or maybe something to that effect. My version melds both i guess. I like the white letters, but I figured i could do better without compromising the original. So i went 3D with the letters, but a bright brushed silver, so bright they almost look white, achieving the goal. TMP is not the greatest movie, but it sure is the GRANDEST!

If you mean the "newer" style Paramount logo in front of the titles, I thought of using the old-style logo from the late 70's early eighties, but because I was modernizing the whole sequence, I figured that updating that seemed fitting. My favorite logo is from the late 80's through the early 2000's. Hope that answers your question. Did you like the titles overall? I'm working on a new one for First Contact. Hope to have that done sooner. Not sure if I should go with a darker tone because of the Borg, or stay with a more uplifting feel like Goldsmith's (which I still love by the way). Have a great summer!
