The Caribsea life rock sucks, I’ve used it to set up two tanks in the past (I’ve been in the hobby and long time and had many successful tanks) and both times the crap was just a large algae magnet and no coraline algae ever crowed on it

I had zero nitrates in my tank. I ended up beating dinos by dosing Microbactor 7 for a week and keeping my nitrates at 5ppm by adding Neo Nitro. Took me about 2 week to kill it off.

Hey man how come all my acan corals are dying but yet my anemones and zoas are doing great ?
@richarddesimone9602 ай бұрын
Acans are susceptible to coral warfare. Are you running active crabon. Your zoas could releasing somthing in the water and upsetting them. What other corals do you have. How close are they to other corals. Are they getting stung by sweepers at night? What are your tanks parameters and are they stable?
@gregorymowens169710 күн бұрын
IMO acans like cleaner water whereas my nems/zoas like more nitrates
@Coral-reef.10 күн бұрын
@@richarddesimone960 my acans wont last more than like 3 or 4 months in the tank till then i see pieces of the acan start disappearing and then its downhill after that

I've never had a lot of luck keeping acans. But what I hear is the source of the acan matters. If you can get one from another tank and not the ocean/maricultered that will make world of difference.

Just set you mat advance length to over 10cm, this will keep the sensor out of the water more of the time allowing it to dry. Also having the unit actually sit level will help a lot as well....
@toddblack4793 ай бұрын
how much kalk powder do you add to the stirrer?
@JRSREEFКүн бұрын
Depends on how much you are dosing. The more Ml's you are dosing the more you will need to put in each week.

Thanks for the video, I had chemi pure in the media box and started wondering if it could cause a flow issue. After watching your video, I yanked it out. Thank you for the advice.
@DoYouEvenFishTank3 ай бұрын
The media underneath has zero effect on the functionality, making the mat advance a longer length and ensuring the unit is level is all that is needed to keep the sensor clean (that and making sure there is no bubbles to splash and create salt creep).
@JRSREEFКүн бұрын
Of course it matters! If you restrict the water flow to much in the media chamber the water in the chamber rises and causes the sensor to use more of the media. That is latterly how this roller mat works. As the fleece get clogged it restricts waterflow and the water level in the chamber rises and trips the sensor to advance more fresh fleece.

Please keep up with the updates. Suggestion: Get an orange filter lens for your camera. That will make the video look much better since all that can be seen now is lots of blue.

Not directly but learned later on that this {or MB7} combined with carbon dosing will reduce phosphates into a zone that will eliminate nuisance algae.

Hi buddy!! I was fighting 2months with LCA. Unfortunately here in Austria I couldn find brighterll silicate also not different veriates of copepods so I took the sand out and now I have a bare bottom tank easier for cleaning and everything!!😅😅
@JRSREEF5 ай бұрын
I tried taking the sand out and going bare bottom at one point. It didn't work for me and I didn't like the look of the tank with no sand. The only thing that finally worked was out competing the Dinos. Also, I think their is something called Water Glass - liquid sodium silicate that can be used if you cant find the Brightwell Stuff.

Yes it has been a nightmare but I think we are on the right track. The battle plan is working so I think its just a matter of time now.

The rock work in your tank doesn't have a lot of coraline algae because there's nuisance algae on it. Coraline grows on clean surfaces. Add a clean up crew. it'll color up, I've seen it a lot
@JRSREEF6 ай бұрын
Not Correct. I've had the man made "life -rock" for about 4 years and for the majority of the time their was no nuisance on them {recent issue due to tank crash} and the tank was pristine. They never grew coraline very well.

If you would have used a 60 millimeter olive shaped magnetic stir bar it would have worked. I was about to give up to and then tried every shape and length stir bar and found the olive shaped ones of that size are the best.

Fm rebiotic will not get rid of nuisance algae. It does however strengthen and encourage bacteria populations and specifically bacterial films on the surfaces of rocks which in turn aids against algae growing there, if there is algae already present it doesn't kill the algae or cause it to recede, manual removal with adequate clean up crew such as mexican turbos and urchins to remove the algae is essential. In combintaion, Rebiotic then strengthens the bacterial films on the bare rock to avoid the algae coming back. hope this helps

Hi! Im having a huge problem with hair green algae too! Im from Brazil and I could do the treatment with “fluconazole” (a medicine for flu that you can buy here in drugstores) - it solved 95% of the problem… I dont know if you tried this, but I totally recommend Im gonna dose rebiotic now to “finish” the treatment and see if I can get rid of the green hair algae

I thought about that.... but I will not use it unless I have exausted every natural option first. Trying manual removal and ChemiPure Blue media now and adding more cleanup crew is my next move.
