Ah yes… the classic “let’s shame the people that don’t want to go to church anymore” sermon from an out-of-touch pastor that probably is a huge part of the problem… Let me ask you this… why would people want to stay in “the body of Christ” when they have been abused and manipulated, and even had their lives ruined by “the body of Christ”? Maybe spend some time looking at the awful and dysfunctional people calling themselves “the body of Christ” and preach some kinda sermon that will convict them for misrepresenting Christ instead of directing your guilt-riddled sermon toward those they hurt. Stop calling today’s church “the body” when Jesus would likely despise the way they treat his children, and stop calling the abused and broken the “problem”.
