Love seeing machines like this operating, almost like they are a living breathing thing with a soul and personality. And I swear I can smell that engine room through the monitor, iron and oil is such a wonderful combination.

My first observation on Swiss railways of the day/night signal board before the first use of the whistle on this trip. A rectangular board top left white, diagonal, bottom right black. Whistle only in day time as defined in the rule book. Difficult to see anywhere else due to the whistle sign being so small.

This was the train I used to ride from Dalat Vietnam many years ago when I was a little boy! It’s so good to see it is restored and reserved to a perfect condition! I wish to visit Switzerland one day to again ride on it!

Does this engine have a species of “bell” sounding when it begins running? Most “recordings” of the Titanic’s engines have a “bell” sound at the beginning of the clip, and supposedly, *this* engine had a big part in making the audible *and* visual parts. Note: when the O’Brien berthed in Portland some years back, I was able to get on and look the ship over. The best part was - *of course* - the engine room!

The guys who made this clip are so stupid that they put the music in chaos and make it uninteresting. Let the sounds be as natural as the scenery.

Nice shot of the 4” gun. My great grandfather ran one of those on a liberty ship in WWII. He trained to pull off the tarp and unload into an enemy as quick as possible. Unfortunately he died at sea from homemade alcohol poisoning.

where exactly could i experience a tour with it? Furka Bergstrecke? super happy that Switzerland bought it and brought it back to life!

Yes. The engine operates during the Summer months on the Furka Bergstrecke between Oberwald, Gletsch and Realp. A sister engine should soon join her.

they would wreck the ship, the ship is tooo beautiful to have them in there, and its a museums ship. i understand some of the homeless people would look after their space, but the druggies and others will wreck the ship, if you want a space for the homeless BUY THEM A HOUSE, DONT PUT THEM IN A SHIP
