She was rotating it pretty clockwork behind her back which means she could count and know the color whenever he stopped. If you know the color the rest falls into place. Implementing it is cleanly is the hard part.

Cubers can VERY easily and VERY quickly change a single side to the center color, right? So, she knew which side he picked because of how nonrandom her behind the back rotation was. She then has the cube and slighted that side to solid yellow and slighted down the yellow side into Penn's hand. From there, the trick notebook had the six color options...or maybe just four, since the rotation was so nonrandom. From there, she's already golden.

The trick is obvious and presentation excellent. I am more curious about the code that Penn said. Was it the heart comment? Was that a reference to a common magician method?

Typical for Penn and Teller to say they weren't fooled but never explained themselves. In fact the only one to speak was Penn, who actually does nothing but run his mouth. But really, how can they prove that they weren't fooled?

of course, this colors he choose is about memorization, aside from that the handling of the cube is just easy task for a cuber. The only hard stuff from this trick is being able to talk smoothly while doing it.

I think when it was in her hand she had the orientation of the colors memorized which is fairly easy if you are just repeating blue yellow green red over and over in your head. so when she is rotating it she just has to think of those colors in the right order over and over, so as soon as Penn picks a color she knows which one it is, then she tells him to scramble it, when he hands it back she "scrambles a it a little bit as well" meanwhile she is rearranging it so the yellow side shows again. Then she used invisible ink magic to make the yellow ink show up slowly over time. Cool trick but totally understandable if you think about the basics of how it works.

Very slick and entertaining presentation. She was very careful and precise in the way that she handled the cube while it was behind her back, so she always knew what colour was facing Penn, and that colour could not be white. While Penn was mixing the cube she was colouring the bottom face in the drawing with a pen carefully chosen from the pot. Setting one face (just the face, not the whole layer) to a single colour is very easy, easy enough to do with only three glances to check, and the way she completed the face with a last turn immediately before she handed the cube to Penn was very neat. I don't know how she made the drawing turn yellow, I'd guess heat from her fingers or from a source inside the pad, which was quite thick.

So she memorized the colors while she was rotating the cube, whenevwr he says stop she knows the exact color. Then when he handed the cube back to her she pretended to mix it up while we knew that she solved color yellow at the bottom of the cube while handing it back to him and asking him to hold it that way. Lastly, the color yellow showing on the notebook is basically a hidden marker or some kind of way to color it from behind. The whole act is basically solving that cube to show yellow color so quickly.

It was much better than the last time I saw cube magic on the show. The guy gave the cube a twist, executing two moves at the same time. The cube appeared to go from mixed to solved. But it was only two moves from solved. They gave him a fooled partially for it and the phone charger hiding a battery so it could work without a socket. While your trick may be well known to people who are not me, it was flawless, and in my opinion superior to the other guy.
