I was a huge ELP fan. Had all their records. Saw them April ‘71 on a triple bill at the Spectrum in Philly. T-Rex opened, then ELP, then Procol Harrum. People went nuts for ELP and when Procol came out, they were a total downer and they got booed. We want ELP back, people were screaming, haha. I was right down front in front of Keith. He was going crazy jumping all over his various keyboards and stabbing the keys with his dagger. What a show. I am so happy Carl is still bringing their music in a new way. Bless him. RIP Keith and Carl. There will never be another like you.

This was the time Emerson basically abandoned the Hammond for the new poly synths. Listen to how ordinary his playing has become.

Baker, Goat, You need to watch and listen to more drummers. Baker was a real good drummer, Had a Very over inflated opinion of himself and was a nasty piece of work as a person. Very good drummer no more no less.

At 1:27:40, I am seeing some of the most whacked out and difficult antics I’ve ever seen on stage. Emerson leaping and jumping on his large keyboard instruments, holding notes and chords by inserting knives between keys, spray painting ELP on the wall, playing Bach music correctly (Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor) while lying on the floor with the organ on top of him and the keys upside down (let’s see anyone else try to do that)…. mesmerizing and entertaining everyone while having the time of his life. All at age 47!

Ginger could play the complete concert all by himself. He's complee. Polyrythmic, melodic, articulate, full spectrum sonically. Absolutely the GOAT.

This was the group that forced me to pay attention to the drumming, it was that in your face and such an impressive part of all their songs. I just never realized how complicated the drummer could make his part. I still like to listen to Lucky Man for Carl's drumming. But, primarily for Greg's voice. Like a blanket wrapping you up in his words. And that synth...and Keith.
