I had 8 uncles. Most had Chevy's. When I was a kid, grandpa's yard was littered with early Impala's and trucks. They bought wrecked cars and 4 doors cheap just for the engines and parts off of them to fix their running cars. The most engines pulled out of the cars were 348s and 409s laying on the ground. They preferred the 327 over what they called the boat anchor truck motors.

SS was only a cosmetic trim package until 1965 when it became a different model of its own.'62-'64, there's nothing in the VIN or on the data plate that shows SS.

If it has the original data plate, you can see from the codes that it had bucket seats
