The biggest problem with tipping at fast food restaurants or using those tablets, or having a built-in gratuity, is the money processed through those systems is taxed. When you just hand some cash to a server at a restaurant, that money is not necessarily getting taxed. As such, you can get away with tipping the lower amount and more of it goes to the server.

I refuse to tip more than 10 percent. If you are going to pretend you need a higher percentage tip, because of inflation, you don't understand how percentages work.
