I just finished the book Paddle to the Amazon and it was a great read.The Kon Tiki on rivers. I was in Winnipeg in the early 80s and remember the expedition being talked about in the local newspaper - the Free Press. Thanks for the podcast - interesting interview with one of two people who paddled to the Amazon.

“That is, until one day Christine was featured in a local newspaper for disappearing on Everest” but she didn’t disappear on Everest, she disappeared (though they have found her as of 2007) in China, at least that’s what I have read. I’m so confused by this description.

Correct! Typo on my end. She actually disappeared near Ge'Nyen in China. Thanks for catching that.

Great resource for an inside peek. I'm in the process of starting my own small out Gear company, I mean like tiny, but it's cool to hear from people who have already made the leap and survived the jump. I know this was a few years ago, but I'm hoping everybody's doing well!

I truly enjoyed this interview & listening to Gerry Roach tell his story. My copy of his 14er guide is falling apart from so much use. I have hand-documented within its pages every high CO. mountain climb I have done, and the dates and routes. Finding out that he was a software engineer made more sense of the fact that the book is so freakishly thorough, accurate, comprehensive, and detailed. Now I will have to check out his other books also. Excellent!!

Oh no Dr. Krantz's hard work was done no justice here. RIP Man.
@clearasmud376

If you want more on Dr. Krantz, go to her podcast. Even that probably won't satisfy you; she is impressed by his work and his scientific rigor but doesn't go into his work in any depth. She is presenting a nine-part podcast of her experiences following his lead and of interviewing current researchers.
@AzGd98
@AzGd98 3 жыл бұрын
@@clearasmud376 Sounds interesting, but its a shame that even someone related to him isn't as open minded as one might think and is in some ways embarrassed about his work. That's a real shame when you consider people like Jane Goodall and David Attenborough both supported Krantz and his academic successors. They're both in fact believers in bigfoot and the yeti

Hi =) I didn't know where to post this... I absolutely love your podcasts and definitely prefer listening on KZbin BUT it's too hard to see what the episode is about when scrolling down the list. Could you maybe not post "adventure sports podcast" before the topic description so there's enough space to read the rest? Is there anyway to change the existing ones? I'd love to see who you're talking to and about what

Its was crazy, Brian and Brady conquer the world, Boom. 9-years of "pirate" adventure and liteally BOOM!!!! Brian and Baby on arboard, and like Brian is gone. In a scene one could just months ago, it seems, from a parellel universe .......its justa twighlight and Delos is once again moored up in a tropical, exotic locale and the sound of an onshore party can be heard. The electronica music elicits Brian to muse .....i am so not interested in that (sic. party onshore) at anymore, not at all.....the camera so brilliantly reflects Brians contentment and evident happiness that things have come full circle; new wife, sweet boat, new baby and King of the castle.

“Temper actions with wisdom.” A phrase I always have used to keep emotions from dictating actions for years.
