Love The Lost Story and DNF’d the Last One after the first chapter. There was too much info dumping in the first few pages!

I am intrigued by your review of We Used to Live Here! I’ve been on the fence but will definitely check it out! My favorite read of September was Eynhallow by Tim McGregor.

I agree with you 100% about The Last One. I DNF too. I didn’t like the twist. I loved We Used to Live Here too. One of my favorites of the year

I picked up The Last Story and plan to start reading it tomorrow. Your review of We Used To Live Here makes me want to snag it also. Sounds like my kind of read. 😀

We Used to Live Here: listening to your description reminded me of Iain Reid and then you reference "Things".

I didn’t love The Last One either. You would have hated the second big twist. I know I did. We Used to Live Here was good, but it didn’t blow me away like it did for everyone else, unfortunately.

I loved some ambiguity at the end of books. Have you read The Anomaly? It does ambiguous so well!

I loved We Used To Live Here also!! I didn’t expect to enjoy it that much; I thought it would be just kind of a palate cleanser. But it reminded me of the exact same books, even though they really are very different! I am sure I will reread it someday and catch more of what was going on.

I’m sorry to hear about your cat. ❤ I also plan on reading American Psycho this month. I just picked up my library copy yesterday and was surprised that it’s basically 400 pages. I expected it to be slimmer. I’m a fan of the movie and have always wanted to read the book.

I am so very sorry about your furbaby. We had to put one of ours down several years ago for the same reason. It wasn't really expected and it was so difficult. She was one of the first cats we had got from a shelter. It is really hard to deal with it. You miss them so much. I read The Wicked Sister last year and gave it 5 stars. I loved it. I am trying to read mostly horror books this month.

I have eleven books on my October TBR as of right now. My Stephen King book this month is Needful Things. The rest is a mix of horror, psychological thrillers, one romance, and literary fiction.

The Wicked Sister is on my TBR. Currently reading Influencer by Adam Caesar. Finished reading some non-fiction for research on one of my own fiction projects. Just picked up The Lost Story you mentioned in your previous vlog. So sorry to hear about your fur baby.

I'm so sorry about your cat! It's always so hard to say goodbye to them, but they are such a wonderful part of life. I hope you love James - the writing is great. I'm reading Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King right now and liking it much more than I expected to!

First, I’m sorry about the loss of your cat. Even when you know it’s coming, it’s still so hard to say goodbye. Thanks for putting The Wicked Sister on my radar. I enjoy books set in Michigan and really enjoyed The Marsh King’s Daughter.

I’m sorry for your loss. Losing a pet can be so difficult, even when you see it coming. I’m sending lots of prayers and peace your way as you move forward. ❤️

Also from MI❤. I would have loved to hear Karen Dionne speak. Our book club read both Marsh King daughter and Wicked Sister in the fall. Both intense reads! But I suspect you will love it!! Not sure about American Psycho in the same month 😮. Sorry about your kitty.

Sincere sympathy. We had to say goodbye to our cat Pebbles on September 12th. He’d been with us for 4 yrs 6 months. He had leukaemia. Really hard to lose a beloved pet.

I believe the book Fried Green Tomatoes has recipes in in. It's an older book (and movie) but one of my favorites. This probably sounds weird, but I appreciate that you don't read a lot of fantasy because I don't either. Thanks for the book recommendation and the recipe looks delicious.

I DNF'D Quarry Girls. My co-worker friend liked it but I don't think I will be returning to it.

I have the You Like It Darker on my to read list. I would give The Quarry Girls a 3. I enjoyed the nostalgia of the 70’s. I was about the same age the girls were in the book in the same time period.

I didn't know about that scandal with Mitch Albom, but I do know he dedicates his life to an orphanage in Haiti and is there every month despite how dangerous it is. His books hit me in my soul. Read Finding Chika. Maybe you won't dislike him anymore after you read that. ❤

Sounds like a pretty good month. My favorite from August was probably Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane. It’s a crime thriller set in the 1970s in Boston during the time forced bussing to desegregate schools was being introduced. It had wonderful characters, smart commentary and was very engaging.
@jaynehunter-arАй бұрын
Definitely putting Pink Glass Houses on my TBR-thanks for the rec! My favorite August book was The Wonder State by Sara Flannery Murphy. It's a mystery with magic in a very atmospheric setting. Loved it! I'm looking forward to seeing what you're reading in September!
@KatieReadsKoziesAndMoreАй бұрын
My favorite August read was Agent 355 by Marie Benedict. It is a short story about a wealthy young lady during the Revolutionary War. Agent 355 was a real woman who quietly learned British military plans when attending parties. The British soldiers talked freely about future military actions and she took this information to the Americans. A fascinating/fictionalized story about the brave women who quietly helped the Americans win their skirmishes. 5 stars.

Fall and Halloween is absolutely my favorite time of the year. Just finished reading A Wicked Conceit (Lady Darby Mystery). I'm leaning toward reading Ania Ahlborn's If You See Her or Books of Blood Vol 1 by Clive Barker and I Remember You by Yrsa Sigurardottir. I don't think I can jam them all in this month, but hey there is always October which will also be a perfect time to read all the spooky things.

Yes, I am definitely participating on Series September! I prefer series to stand-alone books. My only rule is that I cannot start a new series this month. I’m going to try and finish as many series as I can. Enjoy your TBR list. They sound good. Be well and enjoy your new semester.
