better still each student has a USB key with the saved state of their session, and they plug in and they would be able to pick up their session or have a fresh machine generated for that class with the software for that class. Student finished as the session is updated on the USB key, takes the USB key, and walk away to the next class.

The more interesting announcement was the Windows ISO for ARM. Microsoft said it would be able to run on a Mc M-series chip. Apple has already said it has no problems with this. Now let's make it a VM on an M4 iMac to run custom apps for dermatology practice. They get to show off how hip they are with the iMac and at the same time they get to run their windows practice application for the members of the practice. I know a practice that is running their windows app in an emulator, and it is sluggish. This would solve that issue.

The only questions I have are will end users get full versions of word, excel, and so on? What about people with super slow internet connections?

The DOJ should get Android OS to be sold, that will open up the ad market.

Did you even watch the presentation? It is NOT "Arm", it is Intel. It is NOT for consumers. It is NOT like Chromebook. It is not possible with an "Arduino".

Now, they are suggesting selling the Chrome browser. As a person in K-12 Technology, I am worried about how this will work with Chromebooks. Millions of devices are in use across the US, and they are built around the OS/Browser. The management console is so entwined that I can't see how it would be separated.

Meanwhile, in other news, Microsoft is in the middle of the worst cloud gaming release in human history with the total abject failure of Flight Simulator 2024. It's the best looking PC flight simulator that no one can use because their cloud infrastructure has collapsed under the load. Betting your business, large or small, on that magic computer in the sky is not the way to be successful.

I get the whole trying to punish Google. However, Selling chrome will hurt the end users and the safty of the internet. From all the conveniences, and the Interconnectivity that chrome has with all the other Google services, will now be handed over to a third party. They will Probably have to shutdown the chrome store and extensions. They will probably rip the google account connectivity out of chrome, including bookmark sync. This will really suck for the end users, that really enjoy using the broswer.

It would be a terrible idea as a replacement for a mom or grandma PC, actually. Why get some thin client with a sub fee when she can use a nice, secure Mac mini for one fairly low up-front cost? Plus, it remains useful when the internet goes out or is too slow for using a remote system very well.
@ibrahimx28Күн бұрын
I'm guessing that's why they brought use cases where thin clients / cloud computing would make most sense (eg. schools, public terminals) where needing to reset each session is more important than offline accessibility.
@TheMrMarkWКүн бұрын
This isn't a consumer product at all - it's an enterprise product - it's a reinvented thin client, for use with VDI (virtual desktop) - which MS Rebrand their fully packaged product as Windows 365.

Last time I used Final Cut was really in college (early 90's) when a few broke as hell friends and I "found" it laying around on the internet. Final Cut is, or was, very intuitive to me. I'm using the free version of Resolve now, only really editing once in a blue moon. Resolve is way more complicated to me I must admit. I haven't really dedicated any time into though. Just enough to get a job done and then I don't touch it for another eleven months. I really do want to get into though. Really want to learn color grading and all that. (Why? I don't know. I'm never going to do this commercially and barely do it for the rare projects I do now. And I mean RARELY)
@AtortAerials2 күн бұрын
Final Cut on iPad sucks so badly! Least intuitive app ever. Resolve on iPad Pro is AMAZING zero comparison. Desktop Final Cut is good. Resolve another level always still.

I wish Logic would add some features that people want that Cubase has. I'm a user of logic since the early 90's. I really wished that there were more Speaker controls, talkback controls, built in vocalign, Mixdown autonaming, being able to make your master any bus output. Put standard effects into the sampler, quicksampler....I'd be a happy happy and gladly even pay for the upgrade.

I love my iPhone camera for every day use, but I have several cameras depending on the situation. I have a small point and shoot with a waterproof case that I take water parks and such. I have another point and shoot with a 20x zoom lens that I take to concerts and sports that don’t allow pro cameras. I’ve had a Canon 7D for 12 years and recently upgraded to a Canon R6 Mark II that I use for family events, trips and special occasions

I keep getting Texts from Scammers telling me about some package from the USPS and that they don't have the right details of my Address that the package will be delayed or returned to sender. But the problem is that I am not waiting on a Package and if one was coming, I would not have gotten any texts, I'll ger a popup from USPS app telling me that there is a package coming soon, or FedEx app and UPS apps. But the language and how they speak is totally not American, it has badly spelled words and the terms they use is from England, not USA terms in the language.
