Yo folks right. This iz real gloom bap. Heavy beat, metaphysics lyrics. No doubt this iz real hip hop. Peace to my man E Krave. The lord okkult of beat. Na mean

The remix is Definitely dope, but both versions hold up but the original is the inspiration for these two versions.

Rascoe was a West coast cat that could rap like a east coaster. Not offense to left coast rappers but they weren't swift or technical like Rascoe. underrated spitter.

I’m going to sound old af but kids today cannot understand how legendary this era of underground hip hop was. I’m so glad I got to see all of these guys live along with sage francis, brother Ali, etc The sad fact is.. eyedea is long gone.. and the boyfriend I had as a teenager who introduced all of these guys to me 25 years ago is also no longer with us… you can never go back

Facts. I've never been able to see any of the Rhymesayers live, but I might be going to see Slug at the Palladium soon. I've seen a few concerts (R.A., Czarface, Deca, Tech N9ne - Deca was my favorite, though R.A.'s show is a close second), but never managed to catch any of the Rhymesayers. Granted I grew up a metalhead (born in '94) cause that's all my dad listened to, and my mom listened to rock n' roll, so I got turned on to all these guys kinda late. But that's so true. I was basically born (as far as I understand it) during the all-too-brief rise of skill-based rap. Don't get me wrong, there is still plenty of good material today if you know where to look, but I mean back when rap was hip-hop. Back when you didn't need a gimmick to succeed as a rapper. Back when being on a cypher actually meant something, and your friend had a bootlegged tape that was from some obscure version of a song that you had never heard before and next to nobody even knew about that featured a verse from some artist that you went to school with or some sh*t. Back when lyrics actually had more substance than just constantly boasting about your status or beefing with your enemies. I know it's a pipe dream, but I do hope we get back to some semblance of that at some point.
