Question; do you type in all the alias at the start of your test from memory?
@cloudsecque
@cloudsecque Күн бұрын
I did. If you do a lot of practice labs and questions, it just becomes muscle memory. That’s why almost everyone recommends practice practice practice! 😅 I would also recommend going through the items in the cheat sheet, especially autocompletion section. It does save a lot of time just tabbing through the commands. kubernetes.io/docs/reference/kubectl/quick-reference/ Good luck on your exam when you’re ready to take it! Many who have followed my advice have passed.

Go for it! Nothing is stopping you from taking the exam. Suppose you don’t have the minimum five years of experience in any of the two domains. In that case, you won’t be awarded the CISSP certification and will be recognized as an Associate of ISC2 until you fulfill that requirement.

@cloudsecque

It's not necessary to memorize the YAML structure for each Kubernetes object. Instead, focus on understanding the key concepts. Use the `--dry-run` and `-o yaml` commands to generate the YAML structure when needed during the exam. This will save you time and ensure accuracy. Good luck!

The certification has significantly benefited my career, providing a comprehensive understanding that has proven invaluable in various situations.

Hi Sukhdeep, For the ISC2 CISSP exam, you need at least five years of work experience in two or more of the eight domains of the CISSP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK). If you don't have the required experience, you can still take the exam and become an Associate of ISC2. To book the exam, visit the ISC2 website, create an account, and follow their registration process. Good luck!

Hi secq, I want to get into the path of cloud security, I have knowledge of cybersecurity, hacking and programming with python, I have never worked in IT, my plan is to start with aws partitioner, and then continue with solution arch and then sec, do you think I could get into some work? My doubt, is if I have to do some SOC path (blue team) or directly I go for cloud, and the last doubt is if I need to do comptia sec+ (I have the knowledge from other courses, but I can't afford the price of the certification for the moment) or with aws partitioner is it ok? Thank you very much for your time.

Here's my advice to help you transition into cloud security: 1. Start with AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate: This certification will give you a solid foundation in AWS services, which is essential for cloud security roles. 2. Next, pursue AWS Certified Security - Specialty: This will build on your knowledge and focus specifically on securing AWS environments. 3. Consider SOC Experience (Blue Team): While not required, working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) can provide valuable hands-on experience in threat detection and incident response. 4. CompTIA Security+: Since you already have knowledge from other courses, you can skip this certification for now and focus on AWS certifications. To save money, look for free online resources and study guides. Joining study groups or forums can also help you find support and study materials.

The CISSP exam from ISC2 is exclusively available at Pearson VUE testing centers and cannot be taken remotely. For those in Indonesia, you'll likely need to visit a center in Jakarta, as this is a common location for the exam. To schedule and find specific locations in Indonesia, please check the ISC2 website ( www.isc2.org/exams/schedule-exam ). Here's a search page for the testing locations. Type indonesia to find out where you can take the exam: wsr.pearsonvue.com/testtaker/find/testcenter/ISC2?locale=en_US Best of luck with your exam! 🌟

@cloudsecque 7 ай бұрын
Penetration testing is important for keeping cloud systems safe. It finds weak spots before hackers can, follows security rules, and makes cloud security better. Knowing how to do this testing helps protect against online attacks. However, having said that, it’s not a requirement to get started but it will certainly help you become better at defending if you know how to think like a hacker.

Took it twice. First time I was foiled by nature and had to take a massive dump near the end of the exam. It was non-negotiable. It is full of multi-part questions that take a week to read. Not really an exam based on knowledge, more based on endurance and staying awake to read their walls of nonsensical text. You have 2 valid answers and then you have to figure out the third, trivial "solution" that nobody uses, but technically would work. You will get policy questions so if you don't know how to proofread a policy you will be in trouble. AWS doesn't care about terraform and gitlab and you will have to lie and consider CloudFormation to be the best solution and understand how to use now outdated cloudformation technology to pass the exam. The troubleshooting questions regarding resources not being able to access other resources are trying to hammer in the instance profile not having permissions to access "X" resource. The first version of the exam was more of a tour of all AWS security tools. The new one is more of a marathon where they try to grind you down with text so things you would have known end up wrong simply from reading fatigue. So down a high caffeine drink before taking this exam and you should be ok.

I have 16 years in IT experience (mostly as a network engineer). During Covid, I thought it was time for a career change and transitioned over to a Sec-Ops team within my company. Absolutely love it, but there's definitely a harder ceiling cap on moving up due to not having certain certifications. I even have an MBA, and the only thing that is holding me back from getting a future department lead position is the lack of a CISSP (and possibly CISM). Currently im working as a soc analyst with i do have some cloud certification like administrative certificates can i become cloud security engineer
@cloudsecque
@cloudsecque 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely, transitioning to a cloud security engineer from your current SOC analyst role is definitely on the cards. Your experience in a SOC is a solid foundation since you're already tuned into the security landscape. Cloud certifications? That's a great step! They show you're serious about this and have the knowledge to back it up. To shift into a cloud security role, you might want to add a few more specific certs to your list, like the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or maybe something specialized from AWS or Azure, if you haven't got those already. Hands-on experience is key, so try to weave in cloud security tasks into your current job or set up some personal projects. This practical experience is golden. Also, keep learning. Cloud security is a fast-moving field, and staying on top of the latest is a must. Networking can be a game-changer too. Chat with people who are already doing the job and pick their brains. They might even point you to opportunities. When you're ready to make the move, tailor your resume to highlight how your SOC skills translate into cloud security. And for interviews, be ready to chat about how you can leverage your SOC experience in a cloud environment. So, yes, with the right steps, your goal is well within reach!

Hey there! With a decade in IT under your belt, you've definitely got a solid foundation. The CISSP is quite advanced and assumes a broad understanding of IT security. While you might be able to jump straight into CISSP prep, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on the latest in security trends and practices. You could check out resources on areas covered in the CISSP, just to make sure you're up to speed. Beginner certs like Security+ could be helpful, but given your experience, they might not be necessary. The key is to feel confident in the CISSP domains. Best of luck on your certification journey!

To qualify for CISSP, you need 5 years of full-time work experience in at least two of the CISSP's 8 domains. Your job title doesn't need to specify "security". For example, roles like IT Systems Administrator or Help Desk Analyst that involve managing account access or device provisioning count towards this experience. This can align with domains like Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Asset Security. The 8 domains are: 1. Security and Risk Management 2. Asset Security 3. Security Architecture and Engineering 4. Communication and Network Security 5. Identity and Access Management (IAM) 6. Security Assessment and Testing 7. Security Operations 8. Software Development Security.

@cloudsecque
@cloudsecque Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I'm glad you enjoy the videos. You raise a great question - in my opinion, it is certainly possible to become a CISO without a computer science degree if you have substantial relevant experience and certifications like the CISSP. The CISO role is ultimately about understanding cyber risks and leading security strategy, which can be gained through deep hands-on work and continuous learning. That said, a degree doesn't hurt, especially early in your career, as it provides foundational knowledge. But it's not the only path forward. The keys are immersing yourself in the field, pursuing certifications, taking on leadership opportunities, and constantly staying up-to-date on the latest cyber trends and technologies. The CISO role should not be the end goal, but a step along the path as you continue gaining new skills. Information security is a quickly evolving field that requires lifelong learning. Focus on expanding your capabilities, networking and leading teams. With the right mix of experience, certs, communication skills and business acumen, you can absolutely reach that CISO seat without a CS degree. Keep pushing yourself! The opportunities are there for the taking.
