My issue is that I poop too much. Not too often but too much quantity. It's so much poop that it fills the whole bowl. Gotta flush after every giant log. It makes my water bill quite expensive 😅

Thanks Barton for sharing your stories and reflections. I'm 58 and been really lucky with my body until recently when 30 odd years of rugby and surfing have started to take its toll . So it was great to hear that we can still help ourselves to be the active people we have been our whole lives . I only found yoga 2 yrs ago but it's been transformational for my body and my mind. Love hearing your podcast, thanks 🙏

Tom my favourite Surfer since the 1980s. It's evident how much you love each other and how safe Tom feels with you, and your respect for him listening and letting him speak. What a fantastic interview and friendship we are blessed to watch, thank you!

I coughed really hard just after getting out of bed and middle back to lower went into spasm - 3 days in bed, herculean effort and walked day 4 and after a few days woke up and body was screaming to stretch - half asleep I stretched, bang, piriformis and entire lower back spasmed, again couldn't move, 3 days in bed, the 3 days forcing myself to walk around the house and sit and had timer every 10 minutes to change position, day 4 wake up stiff as a board, again nervous system stretches the body and there goes lower back again. Now day 4 in bed, only ice and heat, meditation, no TV etc, no pain medication, I'll move when it says move. I'm older so it's a chronic thing but this time I'm seeing just how long recovery is taking and the loss of muscle is insane I'm sure. But I'd rather be tired and weak than in pain.

So are you saying that when you take one mri when disc germination was bad then take another comparative mri or Ct Scan when going through a rehab process of 6 months a year and get healed … the disc herniation will have reduced and not show ….?

as a skateboarder learning to surf i respect the difficulty of the sport much more i remember Barton in the 80s on his Aloha board smashing the lip all day long i never realised how much it stresses the body and he is still going strong , an inspiration so candid as well not plastic at all

That’s why I don’t take anything for headaches or anything. There’s a reason why you get them n I’m not going to just keep taking advil or aspirin or anything. I don’t take anything if I’m sick I just relax n rest for the day. All this medicine is bad for you n messes up your immune system

Im same age as barton and was obsessed with surfing in my younger years. I didnt surf for 17 years and recently finished modern treatment for leukemia and 1st thing i did when out of hospital was buy a new board. Paddling out and positioning felt like yesterday until i stood up and there was no footwork at all. Takes a few minutes of standing time to start to get a feel of it but everything else never goes away

I've had leg and back problems for years but slowly getting worse the last three years i having a hard time walking lately I had a hip MRI last week so I'm supposed to find out this week what they think yeah I gave up my doctors years ago they just didn't seem to help, so I have abused my body for years. hope I can get it to start healing again, I'm 67 years old and was Surfin okay until the last couple years it's been a battle to stay in the water.

Any way I can relate to this post. I used to just push it ,I'm going to do what I believe just get out of my way. But the body just can't anymore, so thank you for putting up with my abuse body, but I'm not going to do that to you anymore

Hey mate! This is s really common dilemma. I see a lot of surfers with advanced degeneration of their spines or hips staying out of the water because they imagine there’s no other option. Over the years I’ve seen many of the same surfers return to the water surfing after simple interventions. Unfortunately it’s not one size fits all and very much case dependent. If you would like me to give my opinion please contact me via my Instagram account, where I would like to see x-rays - MRIs and know a little bit more about your problem. All the very best Jason

Best thing to do is eat on the outside of the store. That’s were you’re fruit vegetables n meat are. We aren’t designed to eat process food. No chips cereal pizza anything that comes in a box basically is no good

A lot of talk, but where are the primary Heath and diet knowledge being freely shared?? ? Buy the book? Subscribe ? $$$$$$$$$ Click bait. Education and knowledge should be free and not require $$$$ for the long term benefit of humankind. The invention of money aided to the faster lowering of the standard of health in our community’s. Corperation greed to produce unhealthy foods in our supermarkets to make $$$$ as the priority, rather than community health.
