This is disgusting! Everyone should be banning places like this. Not only circuses, marine parks, but zoos are also forcing animals to live in unnatural habitats. They are imprisoning animals for profit. Zoos are also the problem, not the solution to animal conservation. Animals are abused and exploited in a variety of forms of “entertainment.” In circuses and in zoos, animals are sentenced to a lifetime of misery in order to provide a few moments of human amusement. Animals are also forced into the role of the unwilling performers in other venues, including marine parks. Where captive marine mammals such as dolphins and orcas are doomed to a life of confinement, deprived of normal social and environmental interaction. Animals in marine parks typically show signs of psychological disturbance are often forced to perform degrading tricks that ruin their natural instincts. Roadside zoos and aquariums, where, under the guise of “conservation” and the name of “education,” animals are too often treated as disposable specimens. Many animals held in captivity in these facilities continue to be bored, cramped, lonely, and unable to perform normal social behaviors. Too many zoos still sell off older and “surplus” animals who may end up in roadside menageries, breeding facilities, circuses, or even as “game” in canned hunt facilities. Even on movie and television sets, animals are used as involuntary “props” to sell products and services and to boost the profits of studios and production companies. In addition to all the problems associated with keeping wild animals in captivity, animals used in filming have been mistreated, injured, or even killed on set. The use of animals as “entertainers” removes animals from their natural habitat; deprives them of the ability to freely engage in instinctual behaviors; often involves cruel training methods; desensitizes both children and adults to animal mistreatment; and does not adequately address the real conservation threats that face animals in the wild. Animals are also exploited and mistreated for human amusement in horse and greyhound racing, cockfighting, and dogfighting, and in shopping malls and schools where they are put on public display. Horses and cows used in rodeos are abused with electrical prods, sharp spurs, and “bucking straps” that pinch their sensitive flank area. During bucking events, horses and bulls may suffer broken legs or run into the sides of the arena, causing serious injury and even death. During calf-roping events in rodeos, a calf may reach a running speed of 27 miles per hour before being jerked by the neck to an abrupt stop by a lasso. This event has resulted in punctured lungs, internal hemorrhaging, paralysis, and broken necks. Once greyhounds begin their racing careers, they are kept in cages for more than 20 hours a day. The cages are made of wire and are barely big enough for the dogs to turn around. Dogs who are considered too slow to race are often sold to research facilities or killed. About 20,000 are killed each year; very few are ever adopted. Exotic animals are often used in photo opportunities or are shot and killed in canned hunts or on hunting ranches. The truth is, heartless people can be very creative in finding ways to make a profit off of animals and it must be stopped! 😡

It’s kind of western take on sushi. Wonderful esoteric. But not really Japanese ‘tabemono’. More the look, and feel… but not taste. But can you imagine, ad they grow… could be something special.

I recently visited this zoo and it is nothing like the video shown above. In particular there is a leopard in what I would describe as a bird cage, two monkeys sat in glass box with litter all around them and sat just staring staring out. I took a video of what I can only describe as a bear pit - it was just pacing back and forth with another locked in a cage stood swaying it's head side to side. I left in tears! One of the 'oldest zoos in the world' yes I agree and it needs to be closed. The space for these animals is inadequate and the animals should be rescued and taken to a more suitable animal sanctuary.

Hahahahahaha

The food here is great however, because of language barrier it’s hard to communicate with the people working here. We visited this place on February 2018 but unlikely that I will return to this restaurant if I visited Taipei again because of the reason mentioned above and plus taxi is hard to catch near the restaurant. We had to walk around to track down one. Very inconvenient. We first asked the employee to call taxi for us when we’re done eating but said they cannot. Good for local because they know their way around but very inconvenient for foreigners.

The dolphins at Mediterraneo were not born in captivity, but were swimming free only years earlier. So no, I do not recommend you go to this park. Swim with dolphins in the wild instead it is a much more special experience! No dolphin lover support such entertainment.
