This is why we love sport because it's the human triumph and euphoria along with the human heartache and tears. It reminds us that we are human because we empathise with triumph for the winners and compassion for those who lose. Beaten on arguably the hardest stage by a veteran Tour rider who was only on a one year verbal contract. The euphoria and heartache could not be more polarised at the finish line. I've watched the Tour for 30 years. This is the most memorable finish line I have ever witnessed.
