@@SamTeigland What frameworks are you using for backend development?
@SamTeigland
@SamTeigland 14 күн бұрын
I've been recently learning C# and .NET, which have been pretty interesting. I have also used Flask, a tiny bit of Django, lots of NextJS, and lots of NodeJS. It's a pretty wide variety. If you're coming from learning front-end, I usually recommend using NodeJS because that way you don't have to learn a whole new language for back-end development.

@@SamTeigland If you like javascript so much you should use tauri + rust for OS App development, you could set it up to use javascript, html, css and then the javascript can communicate to the rust... not much learning curve with this setup, and plus out of the box a basic cross platform app would only use 5 mb or less of ram. I like C# as its pretty straight forward to build windows application, but havn't tried doing something cross platform in C#... For webdev I was using Codeigniter and PHP for many years, but been moving away from it, and using golang and possibly rust in the future for web development because its compiled and a single executable... so its very easy to setup on a server

I think a difference of "3 expressions instead of 1" is not useful enough of an explanation. Most of for loops can be broken down into a while loop. Main difference of for loops is that a good written for loop is implemented in such a way that the amount of iterations that is going to be run is known before it's been run because ideally most of the conditions are present within the loop declaration. And a while loop can easily be made in such a way that the amount of iterations is not so easily determined because all the variables of the expression must be controlled inside or outside the loop

Just a small correction, the second expression is telling the loop to execute while i is less than or equal to 8. That's the difference between 8 loops and 9 loops. This one will run 9 times because it's running for i = 0 and i = 8

What second language do you recommend if you want to be a fullstack dev?And don’t you think that that it is hard to find good job if you are only front end dev. P.s sorry for my English
@SamTeigland
@SamTeigland 4 ай бұрын
All good @astkh4381 . I think it's getting harder to get a job as a front-end web dev. I don't think it's totally impossible, but it's definitely getting more competitive. It's always useful to have extra skills that you can leverage to get a front-end job if that is somethat that you want. As far as back-end languages go, you can stick with JavaScript and just use NodeJS. Python is also a really good back-end language. I'm currently learning Go and have been enjoying that. I've also heard really good things about Rust but I haven't learned it yet. You really can't go wrong, but Python would be helpful because it's such a common language. Sorry for the long message!

@SamTeigland
@SamTeigland 4 ай бұрын
You're welcome! If you're currently front-end and want to do full-stack, you're experience in front-end would still be very useful. You definitely wouldn't be starting over in your career. I don't know your individual situation at the company you work for, but I would recommend discussing with a superior on how you can get more experience with back-end web development. Maybe you can get a full-stack position at the company you currently work for. If you feel like the company you currently work for isn't giving you enough full-stack opportunities, it might be worth looking for opportunities elsewhere. I definitely think your front-end skills would be useful if you went full-stack. I hope that helps!

It might also be useful to get connected with some people at your work that do full-stack or back-end web development. Try and learn from them, see what they do on a daily basis, and maybe see if you can help them on some projects.

Hm SVGS something I learned and never found that useful. SVG vs AVIF vs WEBP. Because a SVG is harder to edit then just using Photoshop. A SVG might actually take longer to load then a <img>. SVG's are fine but I don't feel like that they will continue to be standard as AV1 and AV2 tech is being built. Plus I don't recall anyone ever doing Lazy loading on a SVG. Honestly, watch this video with caution or better yet skip it because the technology being built might surpass Web Html Svg's. There's not really any evidence to support this but there's also nothing to dissaprove of this. So truely SVGs are the biggest gray area in my opinion for HTML. If you want to use SVGs there are image to SVGS converters out there.
@heliospace
@heliospace 6 ай бұрын
Forgot to mention Avif is only AV1 while AV2 exists and is 3x more efficent according to graphs online. So when AV2 gets into images and not just Twitch streams. I don't see SVG surviving web development.
@heliospace
@heliospace 6 ай бұрын
In the end it really depends on what you're tryna do because svg will not have a drop in quality but if you set up your images to the right size you wont have your html compress it down and it won't change in size. So you will still retain those nice edges.

Yes. Things are always changing. The more I learn about the web, the more I realize how flawed it is. I use SVGs on a regular basis, especially for things like logos. There are definitely other ways of doing things, some of which might be more effective than mine. I just use SVGs a lot and I think its important for people learning web dev to understand how they work.

Your convention for naming classes in CSS works just fine. For me, I've always used that format, and it helps me segregate CSS class names from other names in my code because of the unique convention that I use to name them. Personally, it just helps me keep things more organized. There's nothing wrong with the way you name your classes in CSS, so by all means keep doing what works for you!
