My first yankee playoff series heartbreak. I fell in love with the Yankees at 10 years old in 2006 despite going to many games before that. My first ever game was David wells perfect game in 98 not that I remember but thanks dad go yanks😀 every time I see the tigers I feel like I’m 10 again 😢

I was a Cubs fan for 15 years (1993-2008) starting in 1st grade. This series broke me. Went to St. Louis for a game in 2010 and became a fan of the Cards. The next year...they win one of the greatest World Series of all time. Glad I made the switch!

This was the second time in the first 4 games of the season that Elway had the ball slip out of his hand on the decisive play of the game - it happened at the 1-yard line in the closing seconds against San Diego in Week 1 and Junior Seau picked it off. You knew it wasn't the Broncos' year when that happens twice in four games.
@walterlv01
@walterlv01 Күн бұрын
This '94 Broncos team was one of the most snakebitten teams I can remember - 5 of their 6 losses to this point were by basically one play in the 4th quarter. Turnover at the 1-yard line against the Chargers, OT loss to the Jets, failed 4th and goal at Buffalo, Montana drive against KC. They were 3-6 and could easily have been 7-2 with any luck.

This was the most frustrated I ever felt rooting for the Cubs. That 2008 team was so much fun to watch, especially with all those late-game comebacks! To see it all end in such a whimper was stunning. So many of their best bats (Soriano, Soto, Ramirez) fell asleep in the NLDS. It felt like I was watching a different team from what I saw April through September.

With how great as Manny has been for the Dodgers, it's very easy to ignore just how clutch Jason Bay has been since coming to Boston. And unlike Manny, Bay has another year on his deal and is much younger. Have to say both teams came out real well in this deal.

1986 and 2008 were just brutal. You can forgive 2004 and 2007 Its the fact that the RSOX just had that winning streak against the Angels since game 5 of the 1986 ALCS that made it more noticeable.

If it wasnt for 2002, the Angels would be known as a cursed franchise. And again they lose to the RSOX in the postseason. WOW, third time this decade alone all in the division series, and the 1986 ALCS At least they broke the RSOX winning streak against them in the postseason after winning game 3

@@RyanJackson-vp5he I disagree that the Angels beat them easily. Those were tough Division Series between Yankees-Angels in 2002-2005, it wasnt domination by the Angels. But yes, from 1995 till 2009, Angels (and RSOX) was the team that gave Yankees the most headaches, in both the regular season and postseason. Given, you expect a tough rivalry with the RSOX, but not like that with the Angels. And then the Angels-Yankees rivalry ended when the Yankees beat them in the ALCS in 2009

@@Frankieefootballmundial I really wanted to see a game 7 between Yankees-Angels in 2009 in the new Yankee Stadium. I can only imagine the pressure of both teams playing in that game, with the Angels trying to prove that 2002 wasnt a fluke and with the Yankees having spent all that cash after the 2008 season and in their new stadium

This might be the greatest upset in a best-of-5 series of all time. I mean, the barely-over-.500-Dodgers didnt just beat the near-100-win Cubs; they SWEPT THEM. Other memorable upset in a best of 5 series = 1973 Mets beating the Reds. Mets won 82 games and Reds won like 100 games I believe. Mets won that series against the Big Red Machine in 5 games. Given, the Mets also won the World Series four years ago in 1969, so it wasnt like the Mets were just new there. And the Mets had 3 home games in this series against the Reds, including the deciding game 5 at Shea.

WSOX had homefield in this tie-breaking-game, despite the Twins having won the regular-season-series against the WSOX. Twins went 8-1 against the WSOX in Minnesota, while going just 2-8 (including this game 163 loss) in Chicago. The reason why the WSOX got homefield in this game is because homefield for tiebreaking games was decided on a coin-flip. After this 2008 season, MLB will make homefield on tie-breaking-games be decided based on head-to-head-regular-season-record, and not coin flips. Other times that a team that lost the regular season series hosted the tiebreaking game based on winning the coin flip = 1978 RSOX against the Yankees ; 1995 Mariners against the Angels. 1978 Yankees won the regular-season-series against the RSOX, but lost the coin-flip and the tiebreaking game was played in Fenway. Yankees still won that game though. This is the Bucky Dent homerun game. 1995 Angels won the regular-season-series against the Mariners, but lost the coin-flip and the tiebreaking game was played in Seattle Kingdome. This is the Randy Johnson gem with the loud Seattle Kingdome crowd. Ironically, both the 1978 RSOX and the 1995 Angels are two of the teams with the greatest regular season collapses.
