I’ll scream it till the day I die. Nintendo made a mistake by not pushing the 3DS as hard as they pushed the Switch, and the 2DS never should have been made because a lot of people bought the cheaper option not realizing how big of a downgrade it was, and not knowing how many AAA games would rely on the 3D features. It didn’t allow certain games to fully utilize the 3D aspect, because those games had to be chopped up to fit 2DS, similar to how “next” Gen games keep getting chopped up so they can run on current Gen (old Gen). The Switch was a family friendly console aimed at children, and casual gamers. The 3DS had so much more potential as we’re seeing with the rising popularity of handheld consoles like the ASUS Rog Ally X, Steam deck OLED, and Odin 2. Even the Anbernic devices “FakeBoys” are starting to sell in mass, with most colors being out of stock for the popular models on their website and third party through Amazon. The Switch has fallen behind in terms of technology, and relies on its exclusives to get sales as Nintendo has done since the Wii. The Switch feels exactly like the Wii did, clunky controller that nobody truly likes, and outdated graphics that only impress kids. It might be the perfect “family fun” console like the Wii, where parents and younger children can join and play Mario kart on a Saturday night, but the switch isn’t a real gaming console like the 3DS was. Nintendo can flash those record breaking sales all they want, the real gamers know those consoles are medicore, and if it wasn’t for all the exclusives, most people would be playing Pokémon on Rog Ally X or a Steam Deck OLED. Many already are 🤷🏽‍♂️ Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were the best Pokémon games made since Heart Gold and Soul Silver and Platinum version, and nothing Pokémon has dropped has comes close to those 5 games since. Nintendo should have never abandoned the mobile only console scene, and the 3DS deserves a successor. If they dropped a 3DS OLED X or something along those lines, I would 100% pay $500 for it brand new on release.

even in second hand stores like cex, an old 3ds DISCOUNTED is £125 right now. you don’t even wanna know about new 3dses and you DEFINITELY don’t wanna know about any of the limited edition ones with the cool designs on the back because they will easily run you switch prices minimum 😭 to be honest, i’d reccomend hopping on vinted or marketplace to grab one for cheaper, even if it is a little beaten up
