The Triangle building in the back of the "Mermaid", is an artificial "Ski-hill" and an Incinerator Plant below it. Made by a well known Danish Architect: Bjarke Ingels. And the stone with the sledge, which you passed, is a Memorial for the Exploration and the final mapping of till then unmapped East Greenland! Which sadly ended with three men dying, after having finished it! Only one member: Jørgen Brøndlund, was found, having reached a Depot with his notes, before dying. Finn. Denmark

Thank you so much for telling me about the Memorial for the Exploration - that is a sad story. I hadn't yet managed to google for information, so it's nice to hear about it from you. ^_^
@finncarlbomholtsrensen11884 ай бұрын
@@JainbowUK It was named: "Danmarks Expeditionen", 1906 - 1908 and it explored the last and huge part of the Greenland Coast up where American Peary had built a Stone Pillar, from his Expedition from the west. He made claims about a possible Canal, which was proven not to be there, and they gave their by then made Maps to another, surviving Group from the same Expedition. But going back they hit areas with no wildlife, snow or Ice (making it able to use the sledges), and had to stay for longer. And this became their death trying to come back. The dogs and - Inuit Jørgen may have eaten from the other dead members - but he was an absurdly good and fantastic Expedition Man! He claimed in his diary (The last part written in Danish, as he knew it would be Danes finding his body) he had left their bodies on the ice of "79 Fiord", and they have never been found. The Text on the Stone is his Final Message! The present Danish Military, Sledge Patrol, "Sirius" passes his Grave and Memorial every year!

@@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 Thank you - I really do appreciate your explanations and hope anyone looking at my video will read them too. I have a question for you (unrelated), as a Dane. We saw a pile of cowboy boots on a pole on the corner of Vestergade and Kattesundet. Is it a genuine sculpture or is there a hidden message behind it? I can't find any information on the boots.

@@JainbowUK I'm another Dane who just saw your travel video, hope you had a great trip, I tried googling what the Cowboy boots might be, the only thing I can see is there is a little leather shop on the corner of Vestergade where they have boots, so it must be related to that

The Spiral "Church-tower", shortly seen in the background over a roof, is to walked up on the spiral to the top! And Rosenborg Castle was a Royal Summerhouse in the open land. That's really kind of you to watch and comment. We've had Harbie for 3 months now and I can't say it's been an easy time! But I've been learning quite a few tips and hints from KZbin and a behaviourist has visited and I think we might be making some (slow) progress! He's a lovely boy - just reactive with other dogs, which we didn't expect, as we read he was popular in the shelter in Bosnia! ^_^
@nickmetroid2 жыл бұрын
@@JainbowUK My rescue loves being with other dogs as well, great for meeting and greeting other walkers. I have a question, did Harbie take to dog toys e.g. chasing after a ball or chew toys? I've been trying to get my dog to go after a ball but she used to run away from it (I'm guessing people threw things at her in Bosnia but I can't confirm). She started running towards things I throw in the garden now like a clothes peg (I found that out when I dropped one and she was in the garden, she ran up to it) but she hasn't learned the technique of 'brining it back' yet.
@JainbowUK2 жыл бұрын
@@nickmetroid Although Harbie looks playful in the video he doesn't do much chasing! Our last dog, from Romania didn't chase things much either. I will sometimes throw a toy for him and then start to run away. He'll run towards the toy and then run towards me without bringing it with him! After a couple of goes he loses interest! How old is your Bosnian girl? We were told he was around 2, but the behaviourist reckoned he was nearer 1 than 2. My favourite trainers are Graeme (The Dogfather) Hall and Zac George, who I found on KZbin. I really like the combination of positive training but being able to say, 'no' or 'quiet' when necessary. Our issues are pulling and barking at other dogs, but the behaviourist suggested carrying a water spray, so if he ignores our treats I can squirt him. I hated doing this, but he's come to no harm and it has been a great deterrent, although it will be a while until we can approach another dog head on. How long have you had yours? ^_^
