Just curious but, do you tap the anvil when you start to start? Like the way the old Ford T had to be wound up before it could go? 😄

It will lift the hammer for you when you hit the anvil first. By doing this you help save your body.

technique is very much the same i learned in germany when becoming a farrier. Its resembling northern german / dutch shoing style. This guy is insanly good. 99.9 % i use premade shoes, (because making 4 shoes and shoe a horse would take at least 4 hours) but we had to do it this old way while learning, and i can tell you, this guy is doing this regularly, and he is Very good at it.

Lotta of work .. And it looked good. I watch these because it's satisfying and relaxing ...But I also like to see the finished look. Especially the ones they have to fix with the cracks. And im sure the horse is happy as well. It's like getting New shoes. Literally

Wow! I know this is an old video and no one will see my comment but geez! What craftsmanship! Perfectionism at its finest! But let's give credit where credit is due! The patience that horse had?! omg! He/she , at one point, even lifted her foot before you even touched it! Hah! Made me smile! Hats off to the both of you! Well executed

You can sure tell the difference in the quality of work done by a real pro, like this fellow, compared to a few of these other guys making videos now. I wouldn’t let some of them near the rocking horse outside the local Walgreens .

This glue on shoe is used when a horse doesn't have enough hoof wall to put nails in. It can also be used on a sore horse to give the foot time to heal.
