I really hope that Mark Hollis left a secret collection of recorded music somewhere. And I really hope that it is released in my lifetime.

Anyone else think that this track has been Plagiarised atrociously? Intro, stolen by Chemical Brothers. The majority of it was ripped off by the Prodigy

Loved this band. They did a great John Peel session too. I met them at a gig in the Medway towns once,. I went over to them after the show and said how much I loved ‘Petrified’ - Vic was a real gentleman and thanked me - but one of the other band members screwed up his face and said, ‘…it hasn’t even been released yet’ and started laughing - I mentioned that I heard their Peel session and that ‘ Petrified’ was one of the tracks - the band member stopped laughing and just looked at me. C*nt.

This video shows Mark's vision on this song and it's so beautiful. These dissolve sequences show the layers of this song but also shows different approaches of singing as the song goes on. Focused and seriousness on his face makes it dark emotion. But at the climax when everything goes away and Mark's subtle smile shows how he is happy and hopeful for aftermath of layers. Aftermath of pain and suffer. It's amazing. Perfectly visualizes how the song feels like.

My favourite Talk Talk track from either of the last two albums. Wow! its got a bloody choir for god's sake, melancholic but yet shockingly beautiful. I'd end any compilation with this track fading into silence with those voices.

I'm on heroin right now. Talk Talk was the first real band I ever loved...before them it was just classic rock and plain old radio hits. I was 22 and thought I knew everything. Thank you, Mark Hollis for the ineffable beauty of your music. Thank you and thank you.

A strange thing thing seems to have happened to me over the last few days. I couldn't put my my finger on it for a while, but now i think i know what it is. As someone who identifies as an outsider, and someone who has always included Talk Talk into my life as a major source of inspiration, as they call it now days. When musical icons disappear, it usually doesn't affect me too bad, but these guys have such a hold on me, that i'm trying to embrace the loss. My people in a world where most are seemingly not.

Bit late on your reply but i had a phase of Gerry Rafferty and coincidentally share a birthday with him. He discovered and read a book called the 'Outsider' by Colin Wilson. It changed the way he wrote his songs and expressed his music and lyrics. He wrote his best work after apparently. I keep meaning to read it but its part of the reason we find ourselves struggling. I have no way of explaining the truly remarkable Mark Hollis however..
