I mean, did they really need two engines, rakes and hoes to put out a fire that 1 water can could accomplish?? Is that a career department? I saw a uniform shirt on the tip position and the rest had t- shirts?

I'm a heavy wrecker operator... In a recovery like this, you need all the room you can get. So yes, shut down the highway. Cars/drivers that would be passing through are kept out of harms way (if a winch cable breaks or other rigging fails) and it keeps the asshole drivers as far away as possible from the people on their feet. This driver did not fall asleep. Cars racing on the highway ran him off the road.

I see a lot of armchair rescue people and truckers have to make their stupid comments. Not one gave a crap about the driver.

Absolutely ridiculous ! How many emergency vehicles do you need bloc the road for one truck off the road ? What a bunch of of yahooo's
@fredcsensits4476

Depends on the manpower available. And since it was down an embankment . You need guys with rope rescue training and there are not that many around that s why the tech rescue team was called

I have been in fire rescue for more than 30 yrs , heavy rescue , mountain rescue , hazmat class A certified , confined space rescue , forest fire hot shot crew , EMT certified , allows criticized unnecessary response and always will , no need for this entire road to be blocked , take half the people who stand around doing nothing and direct traffic

I can see why they brought in the tankers. Norwood street only has 1 hydrant and its at the opposite end, near Dearborn. The drop tank was staged at Traveler and Norwood. A single hydrant would definitely only feed the first in companies; the next nearest plug is the corner of Auburn and Traveler which is about 250 feet give or take from where the tank was dropped. Was probably more expedient to drop the tank and fill it than it was to stretch LDH down the block, unless the hydrants weren't working in which case tanker ops might have been the only option.
@Grugiee
@Grugiee Ай бұрын
The hydrants failed that they were using. So they wanted the tanker task force to help bring water in. Always the bethlehem hydrants not working or being clogged up.

Non-seatbelt use is a fireable offense in the fire department I work for. The aftermath is certainly not pretty at times. 🙏 for the recovery of all involved and their families.

Is this the same one from stewartstown? Or is that a different one? Because there was one in Columbia yesterday. So I'm wondering if there's an arsonist.
