oilers are not recommended for this car. 2.4 vtec is something to experience high revving in second gear.

hey i built one of these with a tuned 1500gt in it, classic struts with disc and a Anglia axle , this was in 1977, my mates in there capris and dolomite sprints laughed at me, i soon knocked the smug look off their faces, great old days. i could change the engine just over a hour,

Love this! My Dad used to have a Mk4 Cortina in terracotta brown. It was a 1.6L. Not sure on it's 1/4 mile time! Was your car originally 2 door or so you cut it down? It looks fantastic

Terracotta Brown. What a colour. Yes it's an original UK 2 door mk5. Built back in the 90s when they weren't really worth much or appreciated

@@spottedmotors interestingly the et/mph calculators put the wheel hp at bang on 700 at the correct weight. Some dynos read low, some high. So if you ever put the car back on the dyno use the same dyno as a valid comparison.

I think left hand drive helps as the torque wants to lift the nearside front, so having the driver there is free ballast.😮and running 8.7 in the 1/4 with less than 700bhp at the wheels is 1) mighty impressive 2) a true measure of you build and turning.

Yes, great way of describing it. Almost like a corkscrew. When we tell people it done 614 on the dyno it doesn't sound very impressive, but it just works so well on track. Thanks for watching and top comments

Any recommendations when to replace a timing chain? How many miles

Its difficult to put miles on it. They are supposed to be made to last and not be changed like a timing belt. If the car has not been properly maintained and annual oil services, this can cause damage to the chain. All depends on Services and maintenance
