If you really think about it, Rodney Mullen is the prophet of skateboarding. Without him where would skateboarding be samething with Tony hawk, landing the 900 made every kid in my neighborhood want to skateboard. I was the cool kid because I had already built a half pipe in the back yard 😂 my parents spoiled the shit out of me. Watching Andy Anderson skateboard is like drinking a fresh glass of water it’s refreshing to know he’ll help direct skateboarding where it needs to go and that’s in the heart of the kids who look up to skateboarding and skateboarders..

They met before, Andys family hosted Rodney during the World Round Up, the same year Rick McCrank skated in a Freestyle contest in Canada. Not sure why Rodney is embarrassed by his freestyle roots saying it was a side show. Guys like Darryl Grogan, Joe Humeres and others all were gunning for him if Freestyle lasted a little longer those guys had his number no doubt they hd tricks and style Rodney didnt have at the time as he was holding onto the titles, doing just enough. Rodney didnt think it was a side show in Canada he said that he couldnt believe how good, composed and talented a lot of the skaters were. Glad Andy called him out politely

I was cooked by like 30, 36 now and pretty much dont skate anymore, way too demanding to skate high level like i did for many years and just cruising around doing basic low impact shit isnt fun for me, id rather not skate

Rodney Mullen… When I started skating in 1997 all my friends only wanted to jump down stairs or kick flip. Then I found out I had Juvenile arthritis in my knees at 14. Luckily I found a tape of Mullen. Which led me to stick with skateboarding. Flat ground or tech street skateboarding (Ledges,Curbs, Benches) Mullens style saved my love for skateboarding because my knees could not take huge jumps. I’m 38 now, still do some light skating. Andy Anderson now gives me inspiration through his creativity. Both those guys are so cool 😊 👍 Thank you Mullen, you kept me in it man. Andy you keep me wanting to go back out on my board 👍
