Yeah, there's nothing in the books (at least yet 😉) but I have a whole theory about what Violet's second signet is and how it'll affect the arc of the series kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXO1g3x-gM90rac . It has a lot to do with colors and light vs dark, so that line was meant to foreshadow that kind of thing (assuming it comes to pass, if my theory is wrong then, oops 😅)

That's definitely true, but it's also interesting to explore how much comes naturally to him vs how much is the mask. Obviously I can't know what RY envisions when writing him, but it's it was fascinating to read this comment right after recording the audio for Ch 21 which is when my version of him let's his guard down most and you see a lot more of his insecurity...

Planning to finish the fanfic first and then suggest that people who read the whole thing might be interested in more of my writing and link to a sample of it. Hopefully if a decent number of people check it out and say they like it I'd stand a better chance of making a case to a publisher to take a chance on it...

Thanks! I'm definitely going to continue writing, both to finish this story as well as work on a couple concepts of my own. I do really like the voice work too (though not so much the editing 😐) not sure if I can just send a sample of my work in somewhere, but maybe I'll have to look into it...

Normally I don't even read this genre- I read his/ fic, literary fiction and history- but every once I awhile I get stuck in a world. And that happened with 4th Wing. I keep reading the books. I would actually love a recommendation in fantasy, if you have one. And thank you for your writing. I know it takes an enormous amount of time. I appreciate it.

@@seawolf365 Actually, probably scratch what I said in my last comment (I just edited it, so see the updated version...) As for book recommendations, you may already know this but it seems like almost everyone is in agreement that if you love FW/IF the next book to read that's very similar in a lot of ways is A Court of Thorns and Roses or ACOTAR. It's the first in a series of 5 books so far. The first was great and I just started the 2nd, but I'm also relatively new to the genre so I don't really have any other Fantasy/Romantasy recommendations. I'm usually more into sci-fi and Andy Weir's is my favorite body of work. He's the author of The Martian (who's an astronaut, not an alien) which was big something like a decade ago and got made into a movie starring Matt Damon. I do think that one's great, but my all time favorite book (with the possible exception of FW) is his most recent called Project Hail Mary.

@@George_RR_Sagan No, I didn't. But I'll add it to my TBR pile. I just finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It's absolutely brilliant and devastating novel about Nazi occupied France and 2 sisters who are part of the resistance. I usually read Medieval or Viking history though like The Last Kingdom or Master of War. I'm not big into Sci-fi but my partner is. He read The Martian and I saw the movie which was good. My favorite is The Matrix but I haven't read much in the genre. Something I loved and should read is What Dreams May Come - the film was deeply moving and thought provoking. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll look forward to what's next.🙂

Patiently waiting for chapter 20... well, almost patient.

I appreciate the feedback, and I even agree with you to a certain extent. Unfortunately with this being a fanfic that's retelling an existing story from a different POV I don't really have the flexibility that would be necessary to actually execute on it. Each chapter lines up with the corresponding one in FW so when events that Xaden's involved in are happening that's where we have to be, I only get the opportunity to explore these side stories when Xaden's absent from FW which isn't very often. I know it's a lot to cram into this one chapter but in order to have the discussion and explore all these things with Brennan (not to mention arrange for the creation of the daggers and saddle) he had to be in Aretia and I can't just set a scene there whenever I want, it has to fit into canon chronologically 😕

@@George_RR_Sagan I understand. The last half of the chapter - anything after the Xaden/Bodie/Brennan scene was amazing. I especially liked Xaden’s rolling arrival to rescue Violet.

@matthewwhite9390 Yeah, I'm sure that his mom will be an important part of the story at some point in the next three books, and I'd be willing to bet that she'll be generally good, though I suppose there's always a chance she'll be an antagonist. My only concrete thought on the cover is that it looks cool, I think it's notable that the dragon centered over the sun is black this time instead of gold, but I think perhaps there's just some general color inversion going on and it is still meant to represent Andarna. No plans for a video on new thoughts at this point at least but if I feel like I come up with any more revelations that aren't too endgame spoilery then I might do another eventually.

@@Ashervalcrux haha, I know the audio versions of chapters 19-21 aren't posted yet, but there are 4 chapters and at least a month between Brennan forcing him into the deal and Xaden kissing Vi (that is, I did my best to arrange the timing such that he had at least some restraint 😅). And don't worry, there will be consequences...

​@@George_RR_Sagan None of these are anything like Fourth Wing, I got them at a bookshop I stumbled across here in Berlin, which functions entirely on donations, so you can take a certain amount of books per day for free. One of them got me really excited, it's an astonishingly beautiful collection of German ballads from 1978. I also got a book about a woman traveling with aborigines in Australia and their culture, which is something I don't usually read, but I think it'll be pretty interesting :)

That is my theory too. She is so hung up on knowing the truth about things. I even thought she was unreasonable in wanting Xaden to tell her EVERYTHING. It's a big part of her personality.

Yep, this is just a fanfic, I wrote my version before reading those in an effort not to be too influenced by them, but did so afterwards and actually ended up altering my Ch 16 a bit to make things line up with canon just a bit better

Sorry, I'm on a 2 week road trip and thought I'd still be doing the same amount of work on this each night, but it seems that wearing yourself out each day is the key to actually sleeping well, for me at least. Might be able to finish editing (very long) Ch 18 for next week but there's also a chance there'll be a 2 week delay before I get back to my regular schedule 😓
