Hello Danmera, thank you for sharing your thoughts on how you managed to escape an abusive marriage. Remember, Jehovah hates anyone who loves violence and warns us not to keep company with a man/woman disposed to rage. So anyone who loves Jehovah should prayerfully and carefully flee from violence, protect yourself and serve Jehovah freely and happily. You are precious to Jehovah and no one deserves to control you. We know that Jehovah designed marriage to be an everlasting happy relationship and we are happy to know that He has purposed this for us. Of course, it wouldn't be right to just break up or divorce simply for minor problems which can be resolved when spouses could be more understanding and forgiving. Even though adultery/fornication is a valid scriptural ground for divorce, spouses should have a mutual understanding and consideration of the problem first before making decisions on terminating the marriage unless one of the spouses intentionally wants to spite or leave the marriage for good. Then you are ready to divorce and later on pursue a new marriage but that doesn't mean it will all be a bed of roses. Domestic violence, should also be a scriptural ground for divorce because it puts innocent married people in danger just putting up with abusive and manipulative partners.

Lol I joined the army and refused to talk to the elders. I still talk to my friends and family cause technically I havent been "disfellowshiped" and you cant get disfellowshipped without having a meeting with the elders. Same here. Married 25 years to an elder /pioneer. When I told the elders of his violence, they asked me what I was doing to q this.

I am dating an Ex JW. She didn’t tell me she was raised JW until a couple months into the relationship. When she finally did I admit I got angry. But I also knew nothing about JW either. This video has answered so many questions and doubts I had about myself. I am traditional and conservative, but you’ve shown me that some things I’ve said were interpreted differently by her. The big example is when I said I believed that if you weren’t dependent on your spouse there was something wrong in the relationship. Now that I see how she heard that it horrifies me. I’ve cried throughout the night over it (I couldn’t sleep once I realized what I made her feel). You may be wondering “How else could she hear that”? I’ll explain. Well, what I meant was that I believed something was wrong if you weren’t dependent on EACH OTHER. Now I know she immediately thought of “submitting and obeying”. I simply meant that I thought it was necessary for a couple to need each other. Your video makes so many other things make sense as well. She made the comment that she thought I wanted a wife with a small meek voice that always says “yes dear”. I was so confused why she thought that. But not anymore. This helps me to clarify myself better. There’s more personal things that would explain it better to you, but I don’t feel comfortable posting them in public. I'm glad that you said you can't do that that you have to find out for yourself because that's what we're supposed to do. We can politely listen but to make sure we're not being lied to (again) we have to do our own research. I escaped from this cult too and though I'll politely listen when someone talks to me about this, I won't believe anything until after I have done my own research. I can't. For 2 reasons. First is I have a habit of sharing what I learn with others, and I don't want to discover again that something I shared was really a lie (again). So I hope you will never 'blindly believe' anyone and will keep doing your own research.
