Can’t deny some of the subliminal cage references in ems old verses, but i think his style evolved from bein in outsidaz and the newyork/jersey scene in general. It’s almost like he gotta kick out of fucking with cage, considering his mental state at the time

The comparisons for specific songs aren't really apt tbh. But B L A C K I E has definitely been a huge underground influence and has not gotten the credit he deserves. Especially since it almost seems like his footprint is declining in terms of common knowledge. I do think that he can certainly raise his profile, and if he doesn't he will eventually be rediscovered for past works in some capacity that will reclaim his legacy.

He did. Em was livin' in NJ wit the Outsidaz doin' a lot of underground stuff. He surely crossed paths with Cage. Plus, he worked wit The High & Mighty. Who was very close to Cage. Lastly, Cage featured on Prime Minister Pete Nice's album in '93.

Infinite bit NOTHING from AZ n NAS...Em was twice the lyricist they were even at that time...i never understood any of this hate that Em gets about Infinite...n is it a crime to be inspired by another artist? How do u think the game has evolved the way it has..but irregardless Em never bit anyone n is almost a hundred percent original..anyone who insists he bit Cage or Nas ect is a fuckin hater that has underlying biased disdain towards Em n thats it

@@theripper1222 Ok, let's look at the actual bar first. If you Google "Eminem in drag", multiple pics of him dressed as a woman will come up...so we know the diss has merrit. Now let's look at the couplet, why? Because the bar you picked is actually a set up to the one it precedes. "Poppin his hood" is a double entendre, it means to get a laugh out of your neighborhood. It also means to open the hood of your car. Eminem is from Detroit, which is the motor city...hence the auto reference. That also relates to the next part "his trans mission slippin in". A transmission is part of your engine, when it shits the bed...it slips, that means it doesn't work anymore. Since Em is dressing in drag, he's on a trans(gender) mission...and it's slipping into his life outside of just the privacy of his own home. Get it? You should also take a look at the entire quatrain, cause there's like 30+ rhymed syllables. So no, that's not a weak bar 🤷♂️
@theripper12223 жыл бұрын
@@lyricsanonymous9036 it’s a weak bar because it’s a very common used diss. Also, I listened to your other music and without a doubt, is fresh, but the Eminem diss was nothing.

Cage was supposed to be in the spot Em was in. The problem was that when he got signed he would show up to these IDK how much, 20, 30 grand recording sessions and just be dusted out of his mind and get nothing done so they cut him loose. Make no mistake, If it wasn't for the drugs Cage would be looked at as THE premiere white MC

@@g111_ In terms of cadence specifically, sure I can see what you saying. But I just think people are WAAY too eager to accuse MCs of biting, they hear ANY similarities and it’s “biting” lol.
