Did you happen to do all pitches of The Glass or just the first? Would be great to get footage of all pitches! I've done first 3 pitches and we had to bail from heat exhaustion @P4. :/ Do you carry nuts with you at all? I used a bunch where you did the beaks IIRC. Thank you so much for the post! Subbed.

@@Sicnus thanks for the comment! We had to bail off of pitch two because of weather (we got there late). Did you guys do the 5.8 rotten traverse pitch for p2? We did the reign of fire pitch instead for p2 which seemed better than doing the traverse. I believe I had a full rack of nuts but just wanted to place some more beaks to get experience. Glad I didn’t see the snake! Also, if you’re looking for a partner send me an email at [email protected]. Still looking for aid partners

What's the point of an helmet and harness if you free-solo ? Get the full experience and go without anything !
@climbingbrosNC
@climbingbrosNC Ай бұрын
@@climbersilver2473 i think I brought the harness out of habit and it also made me feel more comfortable for some reason. As for the helmet, I didn’t want a rock to hit me and knock me out or something. I really never climb without a helmet on no matter what kind of climbing I’m doing. I’d say I definitely still got “the full experience”
@climbersilver2473

@@climbingbrosNC Oh ok interesting for the harness and good point for the helmet, one way to have some control on the environment I guess. I was mainly tickling/joking there of course you got the full experience.....with full risk and full balls ! It is just that in my mind, when you free-solo, it is the only time where you can get the sensation of full freedom i.e. where all you have is shoes and a short and you on the rock....just like bouldering but on much longer (and lethal) line basically ! Nicely done anyway mate, keep it safe 💪🏻👍🏻

Did this as my first trad route this past weekend. It started raining right before I scampered across that little traverse to the tree area. Then, I was freaked out and couldn’t figure out what to grab since it was slick. Didn’t know if I was on route or not. Ended up building an anchor at the tree and just having the dude I was with finish it out. Glad to have this video to show people what scared me. 😂

Noticed on your first cam placement you clipped directly into the thumb loop, which occasionally is acceptable when aid climbing but is not the best practice and can be unsafe when taking a lead fall.
@climbingbrosNC
@climbingbrosNC 2 ай бұрын
Yes these were my partners DMM cams. I had never used them before so I wasn't used to the extendable sling already on there. Don't really know why I chose to clip into the thumb loop instead of the extendable sling. I do it all the time in aid climbing tho (just for my ladders of course)

Yes, sir, the Linville Gorge. I absolutely love that place. I've never been to this spot....are there any directions to this trailhead and overlook.
@climbingbrosNC
@climbingbrosNC 2 ай бұрын
I don’t believe there are any directions. We had to do a good bit of scrambling to get down to this spot. It’s the amphitheater trail. If you take it all the way down it’ll be on your left at some point (been a while since I’ve been here). Although, if you go all the way to the end of the buttress, there’s a small trail taking you to the left to a hidden cave with some goodies in it, and this spot in the video is a little further ahead around the corner (4th class scrambling involved to get over there) and if you fall you are for sure not going to be coming back out. The amphitheater trail is on Gaia if you have that app
