If I recall correctly, we ran into you at Crabtree Ranger Station meadow - Labor day weekend 2023. You folks were super helpful sharing the weather conditions and what you had experienced, so appreciated it & super thankful. Thank you so much. Great capture of your adventure. All the best MAK and Owen.

I never told anyone this but me and a friend hiked up a hard trail night time passed the high falls wen I was 22 and I read all the signs but t after a few days up I jumped in the murh river it was cold as hell and muddy on the bottom super fast flowing but not in all spots I had no issues and it was fairly deep six feet but there is a strong negative vibe to the water wen peope go missing it has something to do with the water the Indians. Must have used it for a purpose and now it has a strong element or a curse it doesn’t like white people does that make any sense ? There’s is an article a guy in 2010 went missing near this water you find this place relaxing I like driving through it and staying down but maybe I just need to get back into hiking just be safe I’ve made a lot of mistakes in nature and only survived cuz I was young back then once I hiked a mile into Death Valley golf ball area with no water that’ll kill ya bears wolves getting lost alone in Yosemite cliffs and wen I went so many rocks falling 😮

Amazing video. Taking a trip to Alaska in August and am thinking of doing the Reed Lakes trail. I am curious though how long do you think it took you to reach the end (Upper Reed Lake)? Also what month was this in? Thank you.

This is awesome!!! You guys are such an inspiration! Making the right call in those situations can be very difficult to make and make you push deep within yourself to find what really matters. Quick question: What is the final song used in the video? It's very nice!

This is how one dies in a flash flood, in the desert. Glad to know that you both checked the weather conditions before venturing into the low lying desert areas.
@rvtech1015 күн бұрын
Crystal clear skies, probably not a problem.
@CaptainWillard8304 күн бұрын
@@rvtech101 that’s not how it works. It’s what is happening in the atmosphere a 100 miles away. Water travels down hill…it could be sunny and blue skies, and then … a flash flood strikes
@rvtech1014 күн бұрын
@@CaptainWillard830 You’re probably right, I’ve only been hiking and backpacking the Arizona desert since the 70s. Silly me, I should learn to take advice from people with decades less experience.
@rvtech1014 күн бұрын
@@CaptainWillard830 It’s actually based on amount, absorbency, terrain and slope. Very few places have an adequate flood plain to be affected by a storm a hundred miles away. At least in Arizona very few canyons are affected by hydrological events or conditions beyond maybe 20 miles. Which, depending on the depth, width and visibility from within the canyon, is usually within line of sight.
@CaptainWillard8304 күн бұрын
@@rvtech101 knowing your environment and conducting risks assessments, is something few people know to do. Having discussions like this is a good thing. We can assume someone reading our chat, may end up surviving a flash flood, because they learned something
