I agree with your opinions about music, and I deliberately try to provoke people by breaking the rules by picking and chosing my favourite parts from the cultures that influence me; when people make negative comments I try to be sensitive to the fact that breaking the rules can go against expectations. I can't help it if people judge me for the wrong reasons, but I'm going to respect them nonetheless. You seem, however, to have got the message I'm tellng about music which transcends cultural niceties. I love it when that happens. I created a GIF for that feeling: synchronous thinking... Glad you found the GIFs on tenor; there aren't actually many with Gender Wayang in them - in fact my GIFs are the only ones that come up on Tenor or Giphy engines if I type the tag 'genderwayang'. Regarding your comments below, are you saying I should ignore "surprisinglysam" because he's a scammer? If so, thanks for the warning. What does 'macro stands for the win' mean? I wish I could play better, but my technique will never be up to scratch. till, this is an original composition which requires its own movements and playing styles. I'm so glad, in any case, to hear that other people know about gender wayang music.

@@nachtschimmen Haha yes! I found your KZbin channel and the wayang videos because of the tenor profile! I’m a big fan of lampreys and you’ve made some of the only gifs there are out there. So I had to check the rest of your stuff out! Surprisinglysam is actually a close friend of mine ahah. I’m sorry if it alarmed you, we were both going through your stuff together. Continue doing your own art and music!! Leave your own mark on the internet… I think that’s more impactful than actually being super-extra good at the instrument.

@@PETROMYZONMONSTERI'I actually only just noticed that lamprey was your profile name and I was going to direct you to ALL the GIFs that had lamprey in them, but then I discovered that you already knew about them. So glad you found them! Zachar say: go lampreys! There are now so many GIFs devoted for them 'cos lampreys, an ancient and noble creature, deserve as much love as any other animal. I weaved a whole series of images and stories around them and created an imaginary historical film called "The Lamprey Woman". Imagine a world that consisted of only the animals pleasing to the eye and that didn't have lamprey in it. It would be a pretty revolting place. I've also devoted a whole bunch of them to hagfish, jellyfish, octopi and vampire squids which are equally deserving of as much affection as any other species!

@@nachtschimmen You get it dude! I love all “ugly” fish and animal species. Lamprey are so special to me specifically for that! They’re so unique and their form impacts media daily in a way the majority of people don’t even notice. Tell me the dune worm wasn’t based off of a lamprey!! I’d recognize that mouth anywhere! @@PETROMYZONMONSTER Ha ha ha I love these interactions. I was curious about "Macro stands for the win" because... I actually started an imaginary war with someone about having the most impressive 'macro stand' for a camera. Like, really; he used it to record us playing the gender wayang and I was very impressed with it. *Note that the imaginary wars are interactive artistic projects I hold with people. I don't actually have any existing conflicts with people... I laugh at competition by having pretend ones. And yes there's the lamprey swimming feud - but that's another story... please add me on facebook if you want to see this sort of thing acted out: zachar.laskewicz. You were playing the wayang with another guy and had this as one of the hashtags on the description. It just stuck with me haha, super specific. I’m glad our interactions made your day! In a way you also had made ours because your art stuck out to us.

Thank you! ..and that's the problem with doing a lot of different types of art creation. People get easily confused I fear. You have on the one hand crazy dance pieces, new compositions for gamelan, piano music, lessons in imaginary languages and art instruction videos which are often parodies as much as they are actually about methods. I think it's easier to attract an audience if you have only one type of content. I'm glad I got you to smile and didn't send you directly to the more heavy films which are way less accessible.

It's a Balinese "Gender" [note the pronunciation of the first letter is like 'gh' in ghost). It's complete title it "Gender Wayang" and it forms on its own (with a pair or a quartet) a complete gamelan. It was initially used to accompany the Balinese shadow plays puppet shows (known as Wayang Kulit' which is where the name comes from. Java has 'Gender' as part of its gamelan as well but it sounds very, very different and not as a solo ensemble. Hope this was answers your question!
