This video would be better if it only included the classic kobayashi maru scene, and not the silly jj abrams scene.

So the "Neutral Zone" was a spherical point in space? That's what it looks like in this movie at least I always had trouble with that little scene in this movie

Gordian knot. Alexander cheated and used brute force. Similarly, Apollo cheated in his competition with the flute player. And Kirk cheated too. There are many deep ideas associated with all this. We are now having a Gordian knot in our country. I've had my Kobayashi Maru...

Never understood why federation ships couldn’t enter the neutral zones while Klingon and Romulans could wander through them at will. Surely the word Neutral implies it’s off limits for all?

One major tactical error: Savik neglected to ask for a long-range scan to confirm the existence and condition before ordering her ship into the neutral zone.

Excellent composite! I would have loved to have Spock's line, "I never faced the Kobayashi Maru until now. What do you think my solution?" --but maybe you didn't want to end on such a depressing scene. Still, well done!

The problem I have is that nobody ever thought this could be a trap. That would have been the 1st thing on my mind right from the start. Number one thing is you just don't stop and chill there for a while. Circle around and drop shields just long enough to beam some survivors on board then jump to warp back to Federation space. Keep weapons ready and fire at the 1st thing that decloaks.

The difference in storytelling between Abrams Trek and real Trek is so clear from the comparison. Kirk changing the conditions of the test by attacking the computer itself is thinking outside the box, it's the very quality that made him the guy for the captaincy of the Enterprise. The test itself being the failure point is something only Kirk would have come up with. Shatner's Kirk disagreed fundamentally with the test because there's always a moving piece, always something that can be done. 2009's Star Trek humiliates him for what he does, instead of commending him for his clever thinking. It betrays small-minded thinking that Starfleet- at least, originally- was supposed to be far beyond.

🖖😎👍Very cool on the showing of the Kobayashi Maru senerio scene from the Wrath of Khan and this is still truly one of the greatest Startrek movies ever made indeed; And I myself don't care for the J.J. Universe version of the Kobayashi Maru Test where Kirk gets reprimanded and scolded for changing the format of the test instead of being congratulated and awarded for doing so!.

1. Tactical Officer, reroute available power from Weapons to Shields and Engines. 2. Helm - Have WARP engines on stand-by as we are entering a potentially hostile situation aka the Neutral Zone. 3. Transporter Teams - Prepare to beam over survivors. 4. Sick bay - Prepare to receive injured survivors. 5. Red alert - To activate Shields and alert the rest of the crew to prepare for conflict and get to a safe location in the ship to avoid unnecessary casualties of our own. 6. Helm - Take us in Mr. Sulu. 7. "May the Force be with us" - Like it always is. "Lets make sure, history never forgets the name.... Enterprise." Fcuk some Klingons. "I don't like to lose." I didn't have to cheat to beat this scenario. BUT.. "It is possible to make NO mistakes, and still lose. That is not weakness. THAT is life." NOW..... About that commodation.

This is a Command Test to examine how you deal with failure. How you die is just as important as how you live❤The insights of Star Trek is often underestimated. Gold is heavy
@wallabingАй бұрын
I have a theory that the whole simulated scenario is a measure of trust. If a cadet breaks the rule and crosses the neutral zone, That officer throughout their entire Starfleet career will not be exposed to Star fleets knowledge and capability with Time travel, since they have demonstrated capability to break rules, something that Starfleet cannot in-trust them with time travel.

This scene with Pine would be so much better if it wasn't so slapstick and nonchalant. He could have 'won' in an intelligent way whilst still having altered the test. Why cheat in such an obvious way? Kirk 'winning' test is Trek folklore, being such a dick about it just trashes the legacy.

Smug and snark are not realistic in a ship captain in real life. The young captain is acting like 21st century American twenty-something. Arrogance is not confidence.

Knowing that Klingonß kill survivors, I would have lured them in closer feigning completely dead in space and when they drew in closer, overloaded the phasers and dropped the containment field around the warp core and taken them to hell with me.
