I got the new dewalt framer in June and sheeted/framed a lot with it and has not jammed on me. Make sure your depth adjustment is set all the way down when doing framing and if you’re doing sheeting back off the adjustment so you’re shooting flush with the osb.

Dewalt guns are annoying to listen to and don’t shoot consistently. I had framer and trimmers. I switched over to Milwaukee when their pin nailer came out and I’m very pleased.
@Koolhacks9 күн бұрын
Yeah. I was hoping it would work. I had the same design for the Brad nailer
@nelsonbrum849610 күн бұрын
I have the same nailer, using Senco 3.5" nails for a while. Only "issue" I had was getting the depth setting just right. One out of 15 or so, I have to set deeper with a hammer. I bought it for small one-day jobs. I have a early 2000s (pre-Stanley/B&D) Porter Cable FR350A pneumatic that I use for everything else. In fact, all my Porter Cable pneumatic tools are from the same time frame, before S-B&D buyout. Probably why they've lasted this long.
@Koolhacks9 күн бұрын
Yeah, my buddy Jack been doing this a long time. He was pretty entertained when I bought the nail gun for the project. He still sold on old school technology.
@davejohnson833810 күн бұрын
This might sound crazy but are you sure you’re putting the nails in the correct orientation? I don’t mean front to back, I mean the correct angle. The nails will slide in both ways, both only one way will they eject without jams. I’ve seen a lot of people make this mistake.
@Koolhacks10 күн бұрын
Yeah, I return the nailer, but still have the nails. We did put them in correct. When they go into the clip it puts the first nail under the hammer. I must of cleared the jam 10different times. But, thanks for looking out.
@theyoungmechanic167710 күн бұрын
I had that problem with jamming up for the first couple 100 nails then it cleared up never had a jam up again. I use metabo nail. Ring shank 3 inch.
@Koolhacks9 күн бұрын
Yeah, we tried both the 2-3/8” and the 3”. Next time for a big project I’m buying pneumatic framing nailer.
@whowawoo10 күн бұрын
Why does it have to Rev up? it's like the paslode diesel with battery. I like the Milwaukee, Ridged and even the Ryobi are better
@Koolhacks10 күн бұрын
The DeWalt 20v nailer revs up before firing a nail because the motor needs to accelerate the internal flywheel to generate enough power to drive the nail into the material.

Might I suggest trying different nail brands? I have the 30 degree one and it was jamming frequently but after I switched to grip-rite it hasn’t jammed since . Had a friend with a Milwaukee one and he switched to Paslode also got rid of the jamming on his Nailgun
@Koolhacks10 күн бұрын
Already returned. Where we’re at in the project. Don’t make sense to try out different brand and adding cost to the project. I will not have any big project like this coming up in the near future to justify keeping it. Thank you for the feedback.

I saw a Dean Doherty tear down on the new Dewalt framer. He had trouble with his out of the box. The inside seemed a little cheaper made than the previous gen. I use the Milwaukee nailers. I did have a bad gen 2 18g Milwaukee nailer out of the box, but I returned it for a functional one. Metabo nailers are good and lighter than Milwaukee, and no windup like the Dewalt. Paslode of course lighter than everything else mentioned. With added service.

Sound like a good alternative. I’ll look into it thanks.

@Koolhacks12 күн бұрын
Yeah. That’s what I thought. Just returned it today back to Home Depot. The guy asked me what was wrong and returned it no problem. I tried looking for the Nail gun at Lowe’s and they do not sell it. They sell everything else Dewalt. They must of gotten sick of all the returns.
