4th personality ? Huh
@carfo3 ай бұрын
@@omensoffate there are the 3 we see for the majority of the game: “fei” (created by wiseman to shield him from his past trauma) , Id, and the coward (fei was he was born). When fei went in a coma he unwittingly created a fourth “blank” persona that took control bc Fei wanted to withdraw. This prevented Id from taking control which is how all the personalities were able to talk to each other, understand each other, and become one. So it’s an unnamed persona

@@omensoffate here is what Id says while in that subconscious state. Keep in mind, the "Fei" he is referring to is not the Fei we know, but some other random persona Fei created, similar to how he made Id, but this one is blank since he's in a coma. When Id says it's a "usefull form of resistance", he's talking about his inability to maintain control. Then, for the first time, he learns about how Fei's mom saved him at the last second--something the 'coward' (OG persona), hid from Id. This was the catalyst for all their persona's merging and the Contact becoming whole (unlike Grahf who was incomplete due to his transmigrations) Id:I misjudged you. I didn't expect you, the fake personality, would create a fourth persona. Fei:Fourth persona? Id:He can't feel anything. He's shut up inside your ego. The pressing facts and truths you won't face. You're afraid of them, so you desired to completely shut yourself off from the outside world. And so you formed a fourth persona. A fourth 'Fei'. The name... doesn't matter. He's the one on the stage now. He's the one in control of our body. But it is a useless form of resistance. Come with me!

@@omensoffate the Xenoverse is deeper than people most realize. It does take a LOT of research to fully grasp bc the writers used so many concepts from philosophy to psychology to literature and threw them in a blender, hit the puree switch, and it outputted a script. A great one at that.

1.) What set of ethics are you appealing to? 2.) The music industry had a conniption fit with Napster, but the world adjusted to the technology. They fought and sued and fought some more. For years. And lost. Same will happen eventually with AI art. Your are NOT putting this genie back in the bottle Use whatever tools are at hand, IMO. We're talking about an almost three decades old game. You aren't taking food out of anyone's mouth.

One of the reasons this game has become such a cult classic is that it's truly a labor of love. Usually these fancy CGI openings are mostly just there for the fluff. And the technical jargon is somewhat nonsensical just for the sake of it. But in this game, even the OP fit perfectly with the entire game even if it would take you another 60+ hours of game playing before it fully made sense. It's the type of attention to detail that you rarely see in any entertainment media.

Great breakdown! In future breakdowns, if you decide to do any of them, I hope you'll do more comparing and contrasting between the different ethical and moral systems being discussed. Utilitarianism in specific is always an interesting premise to me, because of its post-hoc review style of moralizing, where as morality must generally be considered prior to the effects of a given action. It's also very susceptible to dehumanizing rhetoric, since "the greater good" must necessarily define who "the greater good" is for. Just my people? All people? All life? etc. You can even see this evolution of whom Citan is considering over the course of the game, gradually broadening his scope of whom the "greater good" is for. Finally, I always found it interesting too that so much of the game is influenced by characters simply *making mistakes.* So many games these days have their protagonists, and even antagonists, act in rigidly flawless, rational and competent ways that the idea that a significant plot point could be that one makes a mistake is almost anathema and considered lazy writing. A sentiment I definitely do not share.
