Lots of people who have bought this have failed to find the indent on his upper blue dome panel to the left side of his eye that allows you to manually lift his scope. You can see it @ 5:17

Are the side skirts that thin or do you have a serious balance issue? That thing is going to shake itself apart and take the bearings and gearbox out on the way.

Is your generator still working? I am thinking of using cinder blocks, but as wall baffles not a completed enclosure. We use cinder blocks a lot in walls in recording studios.

We recently lumbered a 36" maple, a 36" white ash, and a 32" pecan. After drying, we tried planing with a Rigid (Home Depot) 13" planer with 2 HSS knives kzbin.infoUgkxIzvvTi3_Qc8JnVdYYRJCvuoDC4QjTzeL . This job was clearly too much for that machine. The pecan was particularly difficult, due to heavy mineral deposits, and a sharp pair of HSS knives would be consumed by a mere 3 boards. We were also having lots of problems from chip bruising, due to poor dust collection. The shavings came off like straw and jammed in the 4" hose.We bought the DW735 simply to be able to run carbide blades, which worked brilliantly for the pecan. However, we found it to be a much, MUCH nicer machine. It was far more rigid than the "Rigid" planer, and far more accurate as well. But what I liked most about it was the dust feed. This machine has its own blower, which shreds the "straw" like shavings as they come off the cutting head and helps boost the shavings into the dust collection system. No more clogs! It's also nicely sealed so that the internals stay quite clean. This is just a well tempered machine that's a delight to use. It literally cut the labor in half. Just another example of getting what you pay for.

Is there a way to have the Rinnai heater come on by itself when electricity is applied? And then will the gas automatically stop when there is a power outage? Thanks! (I'm trying to figure out a system that will heat as emergency backup to my oil heater when the power goes out up here in Maine... which occasionally may last even 3 days I've been told.)
@N-Country

I leave the gas turned on. It doesn't matter if the power goes out. I need to check and see if it comes back on by itself. I typically turn it off before shutting down the power.

@@N-Country I gave up on this project thinking that maybe it's not a good idea to be lighting gas on fire when I'm not at the house. The solution is going to be a generator next year.

Most generator sheds have insulation inside but, you don't have any insulation inside why? You have an excellent shed for your generator and it must have cost some big bucks. I think this is an overkill and you probably will never need another one for 100 years or more.

It's not a bad idea. But I am at a loss to protect all the loads. I just bought a new crockpot, for example, and chose one with no electronics. I guess an EMP *might* still ruin it, but an EMP would almost surely destroy electronics. I have thought about using foil-back insulation in the exterior walls of my last house With doors and windows, it's a compromised Faraday cage, but probably better than nothing.

Im installing one of these units in a 300 sq. ft. studio apartment. Heres what I ran into: The exhaust port from the furnace, in the installation video it says it telescopes slight;ly to meet up with the wall port, but in this 8,000 BTU model it does NOT telescope. So I have to move the furnace slightly to the right to get the exhaust port from the furnace snug into the wall vent, the wall bracket is now not centered and I can't remove the air filter. So I have to take down the wall bracket and re-install it to the right about 2 inches. Did your exhause vent telescope at all? Maybe it does in the higher BTU models.
