Very cool man. I camp out on BLM land in the desert. I love it. I still have been harassed by the rangers but that's because I was by my car. Once you're backpacking in, it's just you and nature. Be aware the cartels do grow ops out on BLM land in California
@StepMassive23 сағат бұрын
Awesome-where in the desert do you usually go? Thanks for the heads-up about grow ops-staying aware is key. Safe adventures!"
@fantasyEXX22 сағат бұрын
@StepMassive the area between the 40 and old route 66/Amboy Creater known as Mojave Trails/Heart of Mojave. I tend to do more bicycle camping there. I also enjoy the areas around Red Rock Canyon State Park by Cantil. Those tend to have a lot more people though. Check on Campendium for the exact locations. They have a filter for BLM land in there

Do you ever take your shoes off for river crossings? Just go barefoot?
@StepMassive5 күн бұрын
Good question! I usually don’t-either because it’s too cold, too rocky, or I just don’t want to deal with taking my pack off. I hike in trail runners, so they dry pretty fast, and it’s way easier to just plow through!

How many lbs is your pack? What do you bring to eat? I have so many questions 😊
@StepMassive5 күн бұрын
Great questions! My pack for this trip was about 15 lbs, before food and water. For meals, I like to keep it simple but tasty-mostly dehydrated meals, snacks like jerky, hard cheeses, dried fruit, and English muffins for breakfast. Feel free to ask away-I’m always happy to help!

Great series, really enjoyed watching it, what trail is this? The camps seem really nice, and picnic tables are a win!
@StepMassive5 күн бұрын
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! This was the Salmon Creek Trail + Cruickshank Trail + Buckeye Trail Loop. The camps were definitely a highlight-those picnic tables make all the difference after a long day on the trail. Let me know if you’re thinking of heading out there!

@pmartin92417 күн бұрын
I sleep so much better in a hammock than I do in a tent.
@StepMassive17 күн бұрын
@@pmartin924 Same here-I was surprised by how much better I sleep in a hammock! It took me a while to dial in the insulation, though-staying warm was definitely a challenge at first. Do you ever have trouble with that?
@pmartin92416 күн бұрын
@@StepMassive Also I'm a side sleeper so getting the under quilt adjusted I sleep great. If I get up for a bladder run in the middle of the night it will only take a minute to reset once back in bed.

i thought the bear canister had to be at least 100 feet from campsite ?
@StepMassive Жыл бұрын
Most Yosemite rangers actually suggest 30-40 feet. You want to be close enough that you'll hear when a bear tries to get it, so you can scare them off. In this video, the morning shot was after I already went and grabbed the canister. I like to make my coffee while still in "bed" :)

Nice man! I just did a solo trip a few weekends ago to Henry Coe (my first trip there) and I loved it. So easy to find solitude there and just take in the beauty of the area. Since I was there in May on a high rain year the wildflowers were amazing. Had a skunk visit my campsite around midnight lol. I’m definitely excited to head back there and check out some other areas. Appreciate you sharing!
