What a seller pays is their business. Reselling? Well how we roll is passing on a good deal and being very aware of "collector karma" ie If you find a $300 figure for $10- don't try to get the $300- sell it for $200-240 . Huge profit . The people who say "why won't you just sell it for $10 and double your $?" = Jealous/frustrated/broke/crybabies

You can tell this guy probably has enough stuff stashed at home he could pack that place to the ceiling but he hasn't. It looks like a well rounded clean set of gems. I like that over flea market guys that have 50 copies of WCW NWO Revenge for the N64 .

Resellers and KZbin have definitely ruined a hobby that some of us have been involved in for decades. I get that people who collect buy large lots and keep what they want then sell the rest. We all do it. But people who's only goal is to beat out collectors at yard sale and flea markets to resell are the problem. That's why I got out of collecting retro. Lost count of the amount of yard sales I've been to where known resellers show up two hours to a yard sale to beat other people out so they can make a profit. Just like seekonk can't count the times waiting in line to go into to have someone at the back of the line run past you to get to a table, just to resell with what their buying. Just like in my gamestop dumpster diving days did that for years, hitting up sometimes 7 gamestop in a night. As soon as people staring making videos on it that was the end of that.. Those people didn't collect anything they just wanted to grab stuff out of the dumpster to sell back to a different gamestop.
@Sprooch
@Sprooch Ай бұрын
I totally get that. I remember waiting some days at seekonk and then the guy we'd call the runner would just run around. Since you haven't been around now it's a few guys who get in early to look. Sucks but not much we can do about it. It's definitely a different animal now that there are so many of us going to the flea and the world of youtube has definitely brought it to the limelight.

I think the “scumbag” part is buying stuff to resell instead of letting others buy who really wants it. But if I don’t buy a $50 game for $5 at a sale or store, the next person who comes along will. So might as well be the scumbag.

I can see that from both sides. The agree old of "if i don't, someone else will" huge mentality. I know guys who know nothing about gaming and get games just because. They tend to be the ones that don't really give deals. Mainly in it for the cash only.

Reselling is one of the oldest professions. Many more people getting into than before but if it isn't illegal and it's what helps people pay their bills and keep them and their families fed then shame on people who believe you can't profit off things to support your family. It could be jealousy, but I find many people in certain hobbies (cards, toys, video games) absolutely oblivious on what goes to making a business and think we all operate for charity. Listen there is not a single one of us, buyer or seller, that needs toys, videos games or cards. So whether it's nostalgia or a new hobby we are providing something to our customers.

I don't see a problem with resellers. They find something they want to sell.. A person wants to buy said item. Pretty straightforward concept. Now here's what I hate. Those who complain about prices and items to the seller and not purchase anything. I work as a cashier at a profit thrift store - insert white and blue smile logo. It really bothers me when people come in and complain about pricing. If they don't like the price they don't have to be obnoxious about it.. Just move on. Nobody is forcing them to buy anything so the grief should be theirs alone. I've had 5 ulcer incidents this year over crummy customers. I feel they are worse than reselling. I mean I've never wanted to hit someone I bought from.
@Sprooch
@Sprooch Ай бұрын
I feel that. If I don't like a price I move on. Sometimes I'm told make an offer and if I feel were close enough I will. When I worked in retail I got people like that, and yes on a daily basis it would have been nice not to hold back.

To the victor go the spoils. People who have problems with resellers are just secretly jealous that they're not the ones getting the good deals. Get up early, do the research, and go and get those deals. My all time best score was a yard sale GI Joe childhood collection. Mom was selling sons massive collection of joes, ended up I gave like 100 bucks for 4,000 worth of Joes. Obv. some rare ones and playsets etc. Why did she give me this great deal? Simple, she was selling the house and the stuff needed to go. I looked up the sold price of the house, it was 700K. So.. 4,000 bucks in toys isn't really relevant to her .People have their motivations and in the end, we're all doing what we need to do.
@Sprooch
@Sprooch Ай бұрын
Agreed. I feel jealousy is a huge part of the hunting. I tell people ANYONE can go out and find what I do. You need to put in the effort and time. If you do you'll find a way to succeed. Amazing find on the joe lot. Now that I'm jealous on lol.

People who say they hate resellers are just kidding themselves. Buying low and selling high is the entire basis of sales. You buy a car from a reseller not the manufacturer, you buy your food from a reseller not the farmers, even are medicines are bought from a reseller, not the manufacturer. Ultimately it comes down to people are jealous.

I find a lot of guys start out as "just vintage"...That's harder to find, hard to afford, keeps you fairly limited. Ex: "I just collect vintage TMNT"...Then, they see some of the new retro-crapo out shopping for socks and say to themselves "Well, I like the sculpt on that retro Muck Man." and next thing you know, they're just sitting on piles. Stuff that's old, cool, and desirable alongside stuff that was on the mark down shelf at Target last weekend. My advice? If it's made before 2000, ship it. Keep just the old vintage in your PC. Sell ALL the new stuff, minus obviously pieces that are sentimental or gifts.

Good purge is always good my friend. If you get free time and want to get technical, I had a subscriber suggest doing a tier list. Do like HAVE TO KEEP, KIND OF KEEP, Ehhhh, and don't need. Anything in Ehh and Don't Need just get rid of of in King of Keep, weigh out if you really want it or not. Most my purging came down to whether or not I plan to play it, if I had a connection with it, or if I had a real reason for even owning it besides the "might play it some day" excuse. Great video dude.
